Meat is so gross.

Pumping blood isn't that gross to me, but I'm still not eating heart.

Liver and kidneys are filters of gross things.

Yeah, I got that, and fair point. But I meant that even the not-so-gross-tasked organs are gross.

Agreed.

CFT: I am going to try these lentil burgers because I am trying to use less meat. I need more vegetarian main dishes in my rotation.

Bean burgers are awesome. Especially with bacon.

Bacon is great for a garnish. I like it on pizza.

Update: they were good, a little wet by that recipe but that can be fixed by adding less cooking water. I made the fries, too.

I might try it sometime.
EDIT: it doesn't even say which lentils. =|

CFT: I have a slice of pizza in the fridge and two aloo parathas in the freezer. Life is good.

I used green lentils.

Re: Current Food Thoughts Reply #106 on: February 20, 2012, 12:15:44 AM
Who are you? ^^  Cuz I don't like meat. I'm always down with. Ew awesome meatless recipes.
Actually, taking almost all meat out of my diet and seriously increasing things like lentils, quinoa, and veggies probably plays a part in losing as much size as I have.
I have had the same type of diet (save for cheese and meat before) but have recently increased my workout, and it's become habit so I don't even trip when faced with a situation where I may not be able to eat my usual foods anymore. There is an apple or salad Everywhere.
I don't eat in restaurants. I carry almonds and apples in my backpack.

I should post here more often, I like it.

I'm Tammy. :D

I live with people who demand meat, but I would like to do at least one meatless meal a week.

Re: Current Food Thoughts Reply #108 on: February 20, 2012, 10:30:07 PM
I cook meatless lots these days, because providing her with tasty veggie things is one way I can help my mother try to lower her cholesterol. But also because meat is great, but not always necessary.

My sister and brother in law grow all sorts of awesome vegetables in their back yard, including a bunch of different types of tomatoes. Yesterday I took some of the ripest ones and made a spicy marinara sauce and spinach penne. Made for dinner for me, lunch for my mum today, and we'll each have two or three tupperware containers of it to freeze for an easy meal later on.

Funny how stuff like this becomes enjoyable as one ages.

Yes it's interesting. The info about foods is never-ending. I think I will make some sort of tomato sauce to Oreos for pasta. I haven't eaten pasta for a while.
I plan on growing as many vegetables as will grow here.

I was going to say "imagine that", but then I had to go stir the vegetable soup.

Funny, the last breakfast I had was a three egg brown mushroom and queso cheese omelet.
+ two pieces of buttered toast.

Re: Current Food Thoughts Reply #113 on: February 21, 2012, 01:19:34 AM
I like how simple my breakfast is, then a little after I workout. Si suggested I try it and it's amazing what a small amount of food can do for my energy level I end up needing to eat something about two hours after the workout. Actually I eat about six times per day but it's rarely more than the size of my fists, and it's just not meat or dairy anymore.
I used to make breakfast burritos with onion, peppers; eggs, salsa and cheese in a tortilla but the only part that sounds good now are the onions, peppers and salsa LoL

Re: Current Food Thoughts Reply #115 on: February 21, 2012, 05:18:06 PM
I used beef broth and a whole pack of brown mushrooms to start mine off. (got them on sale) Broccoli, cauliflower and carrots make up the bulk of the vegetables.  I left it cook as low as my stove will go until bedtime. Back on the stove today, I added more vegetables and will add some egg noodles in a while.

I usually make chicken soup but I thought the hearty taste of beef and vegetables would be good this time of year.

Sounds great except for the mushrooms, but I'm sure those are great if you like that sort of thing.

I did just about the same thing, only mine was more of a beefy cabbage soup ...
(it did have some other veggies in it though)
