Yeah, kind of, except ours have more guns and don't know how to drive. But really you just have to look at Detroit and the surrounding suburbs to see the effects of Northern racism. People don't often realize that the North was just as bad as the South in regards to racism.
The girl and I are about to head down to Georgia for the week and I've decided we're going to head through the heart of South Carolina. It'll be an interesting drive.
A few years back I took a Civil War class and we read Confederates in the Attic by Tony Horwitz. It was a pretty interesting look at how the south deals with the Civil War. It seemed the old people who grew up with and knew the Confederate veterans were pretty well adjusted. It was the young kids and people from Union sympathizing counties that were the biggest racists and segregationists.
