Re: Current Earworms Reply #2 on: November 26, 2012, 04:51:09 PM
I tried to fix it for you, but it seems like maybe our video embedding feature isn't working?

Normally you just have to post the URL, with no tags or anything, and it automatically embeds it.

I'm torn on this one. It's super popular, so the sixteen year old version of me wants to hate it automatically. Plus the artist seems to be trying to be the epitome of douchebag.

That said, it's fucking catchy. It's definitely an earworm, because it gets stuck in my head every time I hear it. And the video does have certain redeeming features.

You are welcome Nitya. Welcome to the world of movie piracy! I could teach you a few tactics for downloading these types of movies free to avoid the dreaded "buffering" screen.

No registrations required!

PM me I'll tell you how. I have found that I can download a half to a dozen movies or shows in less than 30 min. Free of charge.

Of course the more people who know how escalates the measures to prevent it. Still working for me though, sometimes it isn't quite straight forward.

Captchas on some sites are a pain in the ass but seldom prevent me from acquiring my intended download.

Once the movies/shows are downloaded you have way more control over them, especially when using the VLC media Player. And no buffering!

In Oz, an LTD is:

There was a story that LTD as used by Ford Australia meant Lincoln Type Design, despite being based on the XA series Ford Falcon.

Re: Current Earworms Reply #69 on: December 01, 2013, 12:53:36 AM
Well that's an artists conception, Ford used the ploy world wide. But Oz has been a huge market for Ford. Lots of cool looking cars were designed there and only a few of them ever even made it to the states.

Like the Ford Capri which I first saw in an Apocalypse movie. It was like a cool smaller version of the Mustang.  It came to the states much later than you boys had it.

If it could have competed with the Japanese offerings ... ah but who the fuck am I kidding here, it was trash. Almost as bad as the Pinto. A pretty shape with no substance.

Re: Current Earworms Reply #70 on: December 01, 2013, 01:08:05 AM
I would like to say that I have not seen a single Capri, Pinto, Gremlin, or Vega on the US roadway in many years.

They were designed from the get go to be disposable.

My 61 Falcon is parked in my back yard. Currently registered non op, but actually fully Op from a drivable perspective.

I have decided it needs to rest. So mountain biking in the winter looks promising. Been doing it for a month now.

I have another car, an 81 Malibu, I may break down and go visit it.

Come to think of it I haven't seen a Grenada or a Chevette on the road for years either.

Well that's an artists conception, Ford used the ploy world wide. But Oz has been a huge market for Ford. Lots of cool looking cars were designed there and only a few of them ever even made it to the states.

Actually that LTD model was built and sold here, there's still a few of them around. It's a very accurate drawing. I'd love to get one and restore it. The Falcon model that it was derived from  is highly sought after now, particularly the coupe. An average XA model couple will set you back at least $20k, XB models nearly $30K. The Mad Max car was an XB model coupe. XC Cobra's can go for as high as $100k.

The original Capri was based on the British designed Escort of the late 60's, and went through 3 generations. There was an Australian designed Capri based on the Mazda 323 platform of the late 1980's and sold in the US as Mercury Capri, but it was plagued with quality and design problems, so didnt sell that many there. Strangely, there's still quite a few still on the road here, and they are popular with teenaged girls, despite being over 20 years old.

Capris here were boy racer cars, before all the hot hatches took over. Now they're probably mostly driven by guys who were wannabe boy racers but couldn't afford one back then.

I always thought they looked pretty cool.

Thanks for the history Mosh, I actually never realized the Mad Max car was a Falcon. So much different looking from everything here in the states.

Si, totally different car. I suspect the one you're thinking about is this:

This is the one I mentioned above: http://www.capriconvertible.com/

That said, apparently Ford are reviving the Capri name again, with this:

Nice! I always liked them, my dad didn't. But he felt that way about most British cars, he was a fan of cars from the continent.

I really like the look of that, though. Looks like a hot hatch version of an Aston. Give it a decent engine and handling, RWD and I'll totally buy one when I hit the EuroMillions.

It wont be RWD, probably based on the Focus platform... I'm not sure about the looks either, Capri's are long and sleek, this looks rather chunky.

but I like his references to Notts.

Jake Bugg - Two Fingers

I go between finding Jake Bugg's stuff catchy and annoying.

Yeah I can understand that. He sings/talks in a strange way.

I like most of his other songs but I really love that one in particular. I love fast lyrics like that.

Seems like a pretty regional interest. His songs have no reference to the bigger global picture.

Even Miley's  Wreaking ball seems to have more relevance. And that is pretty sad.

We do, but there's less selection and they tend to be a bit more expensive here. Ideally I'd find one in Exeter or something, but for a good deal I'll go wherever.

You know, looking back she does look an awful lot like one of the local girls I played with in the park on several occasions. And by that I mean I played with her. Probably wasn't her, though who knows!

Don't judge! I was young and horny and stoned and only played with girls who wanted to be played with.
There were a herd of girls only a couple years younger than I who followed me around. It was kind of cool, I even got accused of being a pimp once. But nope, they just liked me.

American women can think I was taking advantage of them but they are denying their own youth, when they would do anything to get a guys hand on their boob. America sucks btw.

Re: Current Earworms Reply #110 on: September 03, 2015, 08:20:43 PM
We used to hang out in the park until around 2:00am, _as long as I could make it to formation in the morning_ we smoked some hash, I dealt for a while might be one reason they were attracted to me, but didn't really do any harder drugs with them. Earlier in the evening we would spend at the little bar under the police station. There was no age limit on drinking beer at the time. Mostly they (but not all) were good girls and virgins.

I saved harder drugs like LSD for other outings or partying in the barracks. I had a 1963 Galaxie and liked to invite other GI's along for rides through the logging roads in the Black Forrest. Really trippy and spooky at night on LSD. Never even came close to crashing while driving under the influence of LSD.

But this really belongs in substance abuse.

Well I can't remember her name after all these years. But there were two I will never forget, Patsy and Elkie  who were only a year younger than I and the three of us were really tight, ok and also Andi, we went to concerts together. They introduced me to the other girls.

All of this was going on while I had a real fuck buddy girlfriend named Connie in another town. So not like I wasn't getting any. I took Connie to France for a week, that was fun.
