it's interesting how many references to cape cod there are in a few of their songs.

hyannisport is the ghetto...

Before looking up the lyrics, I thought he sang "why would you lie about how much COKE you have" and I'd think "clearly these guys have never done coke because it's definitely what you want to lie about.

Hahaha me too! It really does sound like he's saying coke.

I'm a total fucking dork. My co-worker was reading some news website and I happened to catch an ad for VW's new album so I just looked it up, and that shit is out today! Here's a ridiculously pretentious review:

http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/13807-contra/

Also, they mentioned on that site that VW has just done an MTV Unplugged session, which also sounds like something I'd like to get a hold of.

I'm almost embarrassed at how excited I am about this stuff. Almost.

Just send me a video of you jacking off to VW and I won't tell anyone about your man crush on them.

Send me the new album Si, I'm sure you have it already.  I'll even take the digital files covered in semen stains.
Pour the wine, hold the grind, quarter to nine, let's go.

A friend of mine burned me a copy, I'm gonna rip it tonight or tomorrow and will send you it then.

First listen to it, I liked it. Pretty good.
Second listen, REALLY good.

Which is kinda how the first album was for me. I look forward to subsequent listenings.

I really dig the Dandy Warhols.

Vampire Weekend I don't.

I like them both.

I don't understand what makes them so polarizing.  In fact I have a hard time understanding what someone could possibly hate about them.

Just my opinion, but they sound like cutesy put-on hipster bullshit to me.

I don't know though how you can criticize them for that while praising the Dandy Warhols who are the same put-on hipster routine.

I like VW because their songs are catchy and talking about things like the "ghettos" of Cape Cod and lying about "how much coal you have" is funny and ironic way of bashing the worst trend of people who glamorize and try to co-opt poverty as part of their identity (see: most thrift store hipsters, all Detroit photographers).

I like Dandy Warhols because all of their jams sound like they just kicked off a kilo of blow and started cranking their guitars for 4 hours straight.  Gotta respect that.

Danzig is allowed to call you all hipster posers because he sits on the Grand Hipster Council of Williamsburg, NY, USA.
