There was an almond tree growing in the cemetery at the end of the street.

Workers came by on rail road contract and replaced all the old chain link fence with expanded metal nailed to the posts.

Fine right, who cares? But I just found out they ripped up a well established Almond tree that we collected almonds from every year.

The tree was on the cemetery property not the rail roads. Yet when they replaced the fence they decided it had to go, why?
They left several oak trees in the same area.

When I confronted them they just said it must have been in the way. Complete bullshit because they replaced the fence on the same lines it originally had. So why trash the Almond tree and not the oak trees?

After some reflection I can only assume the answer is to remove natural (wild) sources of food from the public.

Well the workers have no idea, they just do what they are told.

There are no graves within about 1/8 to 1/4 of a mile. And I don't know what 'bitter' almonds taste like but these tasted exactly like store bought. Also I used to eat a lot of them with no noticeable effects.  But I guess that's something to think about.

Hum, well it turns out even the bitter variety have benefits in small doses.

I also found out that all domestic almonds in the US have to be pasteurized which would make them safe.

The sun does a pretty good job of cooking them during the summer, naturally the more sun baked ones would be preferred for eating raw anyway. Doesn't matter now, all gone.
