I read it. It is pretty shockingly racist.
But yeah this is just silly.
Herge made an even earlier one called "Tintin in the Land of the Soviets" which was also hilarious.

I should confess that I'm a huge Tintin fan.

EDIT: In retrospect I even translated the original Tintin au Congo because it doesn't exist in English and because I'm actually that much of a Herge nerd. They're truly excellent comics.

I wasnt ever a Tintin fan, I liked Asterix better, but there are similar depictions in Asterix comics.

And you know what, it's just more PC bullshit. Just like this was a few years ago: http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/news/queensland/nigger-brown-stand-gone-coon-cheese-next-on-hitlist/2008/09/26/1222217491581.html

That nigger brown thing really annoyed the fuck out me... every couple of months it would pop up in the news... I dont like the outcome but im glad its over.

+1 to Asterix. I also never got into Tintin.

Yeah, they should have left the stand named as it was.

I remember Starshark and I had a long argument about that stand name. I couldnt see the fuss about it, mostly because even tho we have darkies of our own here, I cant remember ever a time that they were called nigger.

Yeah Asterix was cool too for sure. My Asterix collection isn't complete, though. I need to work on that.

In my view: Asterix was puns while Tintin was plot.

The Asterix books written by Goscinny were much better written then the ones written by Uderzo.

Asterix was very formulaic.

My German girlfriends nicked me Obelix. God what a great time, I had a dozen women back then.

Don't get cocky, it was mandated by the Petersberg Agreement.

I don't know nothing about any agreement but they were young and so was I.  They loved me. Enough said

Dam I wish I could relive that time. I hated coming back here.
