This is my baby, I have it in .22 and 20ga and can get the third barrel is available in .243, .44mag or .45 muzzle-loading. Gotta send the receiver to Rossi to have it made, tho.

I'm not sure how legal that is, eitje, even in the orient.

If anyone breaks into his house, he can totally have his wife death-march them through the living room, though.

Magazine fed pump? Wouldn't a Mag Fed autoloader be less complicated?
Title: Re: Guns, guns, guns
Post by: Wozzeck on September 20, 2009, 08:51:30 AM
The beauty of a box-magazine-fed pump-action is that it negates several of the traditional pump-action's advantages while simultaneously providing you with the shortcomings and weight-gains associated with separable magazines, all without any improvement in magazine capacity.

That one is Russian, and I think there was another manufactured in either Europe or South Korea. A US company used to make conversions for Remington 870's, but for reasons that continue to mystify, no one bought them.

Any doubt a person has about their ability to responsibly own a firearm is reason enough to not own one. Not that it's something I'd want to do anyway, but I wouldn't own a gun because a) I like intoxicants too much, and b) while I'm a level-headed, calm person 98% of the time, that 2% could still be a problem.

I picked up a pair of these:

Czechoslovakian surplus Makarov CZ-82. Fires a 9x18mm, 10 rounds, small enough to easily carry concealed, cheap, clean ammo, very reliable. And under $225 per unit with a spare magazine. Got some Russian surplus Mosin-Nagant M91/30s too, basically the same gun as those WWII Japanese carbines I gave some of you guys, but factory reconditioned. Again, cheap, clean ammo and they make great deer guns. And and at about $100 each for a 7.62 you can't beat it.

More than you would pay for one at jgsales.com Anyway you live in CA. Nope.  Transferring a weapon, even an antique and collectible like these, with a magazine capacity that exceeds California law... I don't have 5-25 to spare.

It's a single-double. So you can walk around with ten in the clip, one in the chamber, hammer down, and still fire without racking the slide. So technically it's an 11-round gun and classified by the state of California as high capacity. Nope.

I don't own any guns at the moment.  I carried one for a while and decided it made me more nervous.  I like knives, I've trained with knives, I'm comfortable with knives, and even when I had the gun under my pillow I knew I'd still go for my knife first.  Hence no more guns.

Hey Zoomie I've seen a recent advertisement for a used MAKAROV P65 in good condition (is that what you have) for well under $200.

I have to admit I was hoping I could get you to send it to me without FFL. I think I may be legal next year ( but no guarantee) and the prices for legal purchase across the board are really cheap these days.

I can get a Glock 380 on the street in my neighborhood for $750 or an original 1911 for $1200 but that's gouging! (ok the original 1911 is worth it)  But no telling where they came from.

Oh but back to the point, The Makarov with a ten round mag is legal in Ca.

That's all.

You can +1 almost any weapon.
Title: Re: Guns, guns, guns
Post by: Zoomie on July 05, 2012, 07:58:54 AM
I have CZ82s. I think you mean the P-64. It's a pretty little gun, looks very much like the Walther PP. But it's small for the round it fires and is tough on the wrists. 6 round mag. If you seriously want a Mak we can probably work something out. Good chance I'll be out West next year. Get you one for cost.
Title: Re: Guns, guns, guns
Post by: Tru on July 05, 2012, 07:06:46 PM

Walther PPK  380 yeah that's what I was thinking. (also available for under $200)

Are yours Czechoslovakian or Russian? Doesn't matter they are work horses and would be a good buy either way, I would love to have one. I would definitely be interested (no paper work.)

At least I would be assured they haven't been used in a crime here in Ca.

My local gun shop will receive them pretty much for free after a $20 background check. Problem is with the Justice Department denying everyone possible for any previous infraction for up to ten years onward, but whatever they decide basically. If you ever get on their list even for a minor domestic dispute you will never have civil rights again.

FFL? fuck that shit in the ass.  FUCK THE FED!

None of that is a problem here. You pay $45 for a class, they do all your paperwork and fingerprints, write a check for $75 and send it off the the state. Fed has naught to do with it. Florida is a WILL ISSUE state and unless you're a felon or mentally ill, you get a carry card. Then you just pay the gun dealer $25 per unit and he'll accept whatever you want, inspect it, test fire it to make sure it's safe and then you sign for it. Done deal. Or just go to the pawn shop, but you pay a premium for your guns there. I prefer getting them straight from the importer like J&G.

I'm ok with this.

It's not the Fed, sugarplum. More states than not go by these rules. It's California. No carry, no magazines over 10 rounds. Sucks. You should move.

Yep, but that would be like running away from a problem that shouldn't exist.

Fuck that too.

My sister and her family did that for whatever it was worth at the time.
She's dead now.

I'm just saying fuck the laws and survive as best you can whatever it takes.

I could paint my derringer pink after I mill it out to .9mm
It already has ruby red handles I fabricated for it. But I think I'll buff it out to shiny metal then re-blue it.

Dark with those red handles will look pretty good.

It would have to be powder coated to make it pink.  And at only two shots it falls short of most offerings.

Your best bet is a .25 auto with an 8-10 round clip, custom colored.

They are tiny, and if you are legal such a thing can be had on a budget.
