Title: Comp issues
Post by: Tru on January 07, 2019, 02:12:47 AM
Ok the power went off for a few seconds tonight and my PC kept saying "windows has encountered a problem ... blah bla blah"

Over and fucking over.

But I have W10p now with a new solid state drive and am back.

That's cool ...
Yeah, ever since Windows 7SP1 and up it's been like that is the power goes out ...

You'd think they would have a check system to reset the system cache and page files if that happens ...

Yeah it's difficult to just put your whole system aside for something new but sometimes you have to.
Surprising how easy it really is, after the first couple days you have all your favorite links back and the 100's you had before soon start to loose importance. I did end up with Quantum though but the first version of FF I installed was 49.0.1 and it got attacked right off the bat like Custer.

A few stored passwords and shit I need to dig up from the old drive but I'll get to it.

Yeah, make sure you update the browsers straight up ....
Every hacker in the world knows how to hit all the earlier versions of them ...

Strange news on the computer. Well I connected the old drives back up yesterday.  I had booted with the SSD with W10p several times without any problem. (but I hated it) When I restarted the PC I opened the boot menu and told it to boot from the SSD. It started then popped up a box saying "Checking Drive" when it got to 100% it said repairs complete. When it finally rebooted it was my old system completely intact and functional. Just like coming home.  We had a power failure last night, lasted about 45 min. when it rebooted, same, old system fully functional. Actually better than it was. Takes it longer to boot than the SSD but then works pretty good.
Thinking about wiping the SSD and using it to store game files for quick access.
