Post by: fyrenza on October 11, 2009, 11:32:08 PM
Amongst the bunch of us,

i don't understand how this could have slipped by anyone's notice ...

Okay,

so, i've been to my doc, twice, two diff one's, in fact,

and when i asked for my Xanax, they immediately wanted to refer me to a psych ~

well, the second one, once i told him WHY i needed them, didn't say another word, just wrote the scrip.

Anyway, i'm sort of beginning to wEnder if i AM "crazy."

How would YOU know if YOU were crazy?

Well, and,

Hey wait, I was supposed to give her that exam in the form of a contest to see who had the bigger fingers for typing on a netbook...

Fyre you know goddam well why they want to send you for a psych eval, it has little to do with your mental state and everything to do with covering their asses should there be a substance abuse issue involved. Of course your mental state is in question, your mother just died and you're having to deal with your father and siblings. Also you're mixing alcohol (a depressant) with MJ (a depressant) and Xanax (and anti-depressant) and you might be addicted to one or more of these substances.

Any more questions cookie?

I love you but stop being disingenuous. That plane don't fly here.

It's actually a little more than just that ~

my maternal grandmother was schizophrenic,

and my mom was always afraid that maybe SHE was, too.

So now i'm wondering, is all.

i never would let myself get caught up in the Psych crap, in school/college/life.

And now i'm wEndering.  Is it all real, and i'm just running away?  Or is it all real, and i'm refusing to accept the reality?

p.s.  The Xanax?  Are downers, too ~ i take them for anxiety/panic attacks.  i'm trying to find that "Comfortably Numb" place.

But you're right about this:

You can't save some folks.  It's just too late, there's too much hurt and not enough heart left.

i'm not one.  ;)

I hate how people use the excuse, "my mom and dad were alcoholics so that's why I'm an alcoholic."  No, you're an alcoholic because you binge drink every night.

It's laughable that this place would add a mental health forum since one already exists in every goddam thread

Bull Shit.

i'm an alchie 'cuz that's where i run, to hide.

It's something i have intimate knowledge of, it's something i know the feeling of, and it's what helps keep me numb.

What's your excuse for your bad habits?

(i don't really want to know ~ we all have 'em, good one's, bad one's, fucked up one's.  It doesn't matter what yours is ~ as long as it gets you through the night, eh?)

I was blessed with a straight but flexible family of schoolteachers, who would talk around the dinner table about how various people were throwing away their lives. It made me more conservative than I probably should be, but kept me out of a whole lot of trouble.

Yeah,

it makes it so Stable, when your folks are open and honest.

Lucky You!  (seriously)

Most of the rest of us have found that our families put the FUNK in DisFUNcTional.

By age 30, you should be over it.

It's just that my mom was the love of my life, the one thing that was True, and Stable, and Real.

Anyway

What's your excuse for your bad habits?

Some folks don't have excuses.  Some folks admit to having bad habits and don't try to pin it on other people/situations.

I'm a functioning alcoholic cuz I love certain types of drinks, and love them often. I may be somewhat predisposed to alcoholism, whether it be genetics or learned behaviour, but if I didn't wanna be a drinker I wouldn't be. It's a choice I make.

It made me more conservative than I probably should be, but kept me out of a whole lot of trouble.

I wouldn't say you're that conservative. You're more like an open-minded dude who has his shit together.
