Title: California may be the first state to (almost) completely leagalize marijuana
Post by: Thrash on March 25, 2010, 07:48:02 PM
How many of you are gonna relocate?

Quote from: Reuters
A California voter initiative that would legalize possession and sale of marijuana has qualified for the November ballot, state election officials said on Wednesday, in what supporters called a "watershed moment" for their cause.

Yeah, actually I'd be pretty happy with most places on the West Coast. I haven't been to Oregon but hear that parts of it are beautiful, and Washington is great. B.C. too, of course.

B.C. too, of course.
That might be my #1 for Canada. Although I must say I did have some solid fun in Quebec.
Heck, Ontario's not that bad either.
All the Maritimes are like Greater Maine, everything between B.C. and Ontario is like Greater North Dakota, and everything in the North is like Greater Alaska.

The me-Me-ME State holds no nostalgia for me,

so,

I'll just sit tight, here on the Mexican border, and know that I'm the LEAST of anyone's problems with herb.

Read an article in the paper recently about the pending legislation. Seems they are now crying because the projected taxes will evaporate along with the high costs if made legal for recreational use. The cost of weed will plummet as people start growing their own, with lower costs comes less revenue, and as we know, that can't be allowed.

Off-hand I'm not sure of the exact figure, since it's not something I bother worrying about much, but I think between four or five US$ a gallon.

I would imagine that the cost would decline quite a bit, but home growing wouldn't be a huge threat since people are typically pretty lazy.  You can grow basil in your kitchen for nothing, for instance, but grocery stores still manage to charge an obscene amount for a handful of leaves.

Plus, any tax revenue > nothing for the largest cash crop in the United States.

What about the BILLIONS at ALL levels of government that will be saved by not chasing down dumbass stoners prosecuting them and putting them in jail for growing enough for personal consumption? Has any single one of these pinheads pulled their head out of their rectum long enough to consider THAT???

Bet not...

Bet not too because people who get dragged into court always have to pay something. Often a LOT of something.
