Who fills the next Supreme Court vacancy matters—and it may even impact your sex life.
Yes, if Trump nominee Amy Coney Barrett becomes the next Supreme Court justice, the future of the commercial sex industry could be in grave danger—as could the viewing entertainment of millions of Americans since, according to Pornhub statistics, the U.S. consistently outranks all other countries in maintaining the highest rate of daily traffic to Pornhub. Thus, as the Senate hearings to confirm Amy Coney Barrett draw to a close, her seemingly inevitable spot on the bench has sparked panic among the sex-worker community.
“If she’s confirmed, it could be catastrophic for the adult industry if and when any First Amendment-related cases reach the Supreme Court,” argues adult actress Siri Dahl. “Instead of supporting equal free speech for all Americans, she seems to support privileged free speech for religious Americans. There’s no way that will be good for the porn industry.”
As if worrying about the career persecution wasn’t enough, Siri anticipates a worse threat will hit much sooner. “I’m worried most about reproductive rights. Our rights to important health care like birth control and abortion are in imminent danger. It’s especially scary to me as a sex worker who also happens to have a uterus,” says Dahl. “I’d like the government to stay away from my sex organs and my personal health decisions!”

I'm worried about that fanatic religious bitch as well.
-
I'm not worried, but only because there's nothing I can do about it. Democrats could've done dozens of things to try to prevent the appointment; instead, they didn't even bother to ask any tough questions. The failure of American empire is going to get uglier.
-
Agreed ...
And the moment it becomes MORE a country of religion in politics, the faster it'll die ...
-
Does this mean she is already in? Or is there still a vetting process before she is confirmed?
She sounds like a Sarah Palin clone, only much smarter and more dangerous.
We know the majority of politicians are quick to hide behind the bible to gain support from the deluded masses but in truth believe in little or none of it.
Oh and who decides?
These judges should have to be voted in by the public like the other politicians.
-
Agreed ....
-
The Federalist Society and the rest have gotten really good at vetting conservative jurists before they're nominated, then coaching them to basically dodge every question asked in the confirmation hearings. It's all farce at this point.
Plus, the far more important issue that the court will decide are based in corporate regulation & behavior. Many Democrats like Diane Feinstein are as far right as the GOP on those issues; they're not going to fight Barrett where it really counts. Even RBG was a run-of-the-mill neoliberal, for all of the hero worship surrounding her.
Personally, I'd like to see the US break up. I don't think voting solves it - voting has been set up to stymie the will of the majority from the founding of the country to protect wealthy, aristocratic interests.
-
She's damn well versed at dodging questions!
-
In the beginning, voting was only supposed to go to the wealthy and "land owners"; no one else ...
What does that tell you?
-
I read this morning the bitch has been confirmed, this is NOT a good thing for anyone.
But you can bet the majority of deluded christian's are rejoicing.
-
She's an anti-worker, pro-corporate stooge. Hope that's worth the dream of overturning Roe v. Wade and a bunch of stupid theocratic positions.
The democrats worked a thousand times harder to block Bernie from winning the nomination in 2016 and this year than they did to block the Barrett appointment.
-
Inspires wondering.
As If anything is as it appears.
-
I mean, I don't really wonder. The Democrats are every bit as corrupt, myopic corporate stooges as the Republicans, save for a few outliers like "the squad".
More importantly, though, I've got about 8-12 porn DVDs and a couple of "dumb" DVD players. If the theocrats somehow ban porn sometime in my lifetime, I'm still set!
-
Church&State ....
Separate?
I don't think so ...
And there's a LOT more Agnostic, Athiest, and Non-Religious people in the US now than there ever was ....
I'd hate to think it's going to take a generation or two to actually ENFORCE the "no religion in state" clause ....

Lindsey Graham says women 'have a place in America' and 'can go anywhere' if they are against abortion
Graham urged women to be more like newly appointed Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who in the past has signaled her anti-abortion stances. (https://news.yahoo.com/lindsey-graham-says-women-place-135356114.html)

That sucker has been the senior senator from SC since 2003, just imagine how much damage to freedom he has wrought. But like I've said previously these people are constantly pandering to the religious sector for support and funding.
-
Sheeple are easier to sway ....
-
It's weird that a closeted homosexual keeps getting re-elected by religious nutbags.
-
Is it?
They say that people often vote for those they can truly identify with (or can "see themselves" identifying with) ...
