I smoke weed seldom enough that it still enhances music. You guys got any favorites for listening to with the herb?
My favorites are Fever to tell by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and anything by Modest Mouse. I hear that NIN is great while high, but I never get around to putting it on :-\
-
you want me to call you?
-
I'm working dude :'(
-
Depends what mood I'm in. Tool, Floyd, Hendrix, Radiohead are all pretty good. I like to listen with a pair of good quality headphones.
-
When I get stoned I just like to eat dry cereal and be paranoid about how loudly I might be chewing.
-
Well maybe you should GO FUCKING START A THREAD ABOUT THAT THEN!

One day I smoked up and then put Tool on. A few minutes later I realized I was stoned out of my gourd. I wasn't entirely sure that I was able to speak the English language any longer, and explained this to the girl I was speaking on the phone with at the time. She claimed to understand the words that I was producing and I felt I had been able to communicate the need to get off the phone, so I hung up.
I then realized that I had been listening to the same tool song for like four hours (dude, my sense of time was soooo distorted) and it started to freak me out but I was able to convince myself that tool songs are really long and it just seemed like four hours because of the time distortion. I ended up hanging out in a warm shower to chill out for a bit and everything was cool after that. In fact, later as I was doing some dishes later I realized that I had become the greatest dish washer ever.
I'm really in no hurry to listen to Tool while I'm high again though. I think I prefer more upbeat stuff, but I can see it's appeal.

*cry*
but on to your point about tool; me too. i mean, i was like seventeen at the time but i remember listening to tool and staring at a tool poster for like two hours while i debated whether it was two big ol' dudes or two clenched fists before i finally got up and walked across my girlfriend's room to inspect the poster more closely. two very fat people.
and then i ate like a two pints of red beans and rice.

I usually listen to progressive metal (Amorphis, Opeth...) or electronic/industrial music when I'm high.
Amorphis is probably my favorite stoned music. The stuff they've made since 2001 usually fits well with my mood.
I pretty much only like getting stoned if I'm going to sit around and listen to music. If I do it going into any other sort of situation, it usually turns into paranoia than something fun.
-
I never stop listening to music
I'm listening to the 72 hour long ASOT 400
-
Tool sucks when sober, so I'm guessing listening to it bent would only improve it.
I like to listen to Porcupine Tree or the Dandy Warhols when bent.
-
Footnote. I like listening to Porcupine Tree or the Dandy Warhols when straight too.
-
Yeah Dandy Warhols are good listening music both ways for sure. Their rave-up is especially great. That's what got me into shoegaze and postrock.
I like longer songs when I'm high. I like a song that is good to just keep on going strong and being awesome. That's why I like prog too. I'm sick of these silly 3:30 songs you get everywhere. Not to sound too homo, but the last thing I started getting seriously into while high was Mahler. Epic stuff, and most classical pieces last appropriately lengthy. The Italian violinists are amazing (Paganini, Tartini, Bazzini). I have a CD of Pearlman doing some of the Italian pieces in Russia that blows me away every time I hear it. Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pR8ABKpwm7w#noexternalembed-lq-lq2-hq) he is doing La Ronde des Lutins. It's breathtaking.
-
Then you'd probably like Porcupine Tree as well.
-
I like listening to Crowded House when happy on Shrooms or Weed
-
Truely the greatest Kiwi band ever to emerge from Melbourne
-
Yeah Porcupine Tree is good shit. I've never really listened to them before. Time to remedy that.
-
I smoke weed seldom enough that it still enhances music.
Even as a daily, fairly heavy smoker, I still get the "whoa... this is so fucking cool-sounding" moments fairly regularly.
Talking Heads, Vampire Weekend, certain techno songs, Pink Floyd (just to be a stereotypical stoner), reggae, any kind of rock that involves pianos... man, the list is just fucking endless. My list of songs/types of music that aren't that amazing to listen to stoned is much smaller than the opposite.
I like listening to Crowded House when happy on Shrooms or Weed
Always Take The Weather With You is fucking awesome to listen to when high. It's such a short song, though, that you have to listen to it at least twice or three times. The ending piano bit is wicked.
-
Man, I gotta get me some Talking Heads.

Great song

Man, I gotta get me some Talking Heads.
True.
New thread time too!
-
BTW I recommend that everyone who digs this sorta stuff get really stoned and listen to Trenchtown Rock by Bob Marley.
That's a fucking sweet song to listen to stoned. ONE GOOD THING ABOUT MUSIC! WHEN IT HITS YOU FEEL NO PAIN!
I'm tellin' ya, you'll get so into it that when Bob does his whole, ONE GOOD THING, ONE GOOD THING bit near the end, you'll be yelling along with him. And feeling no pain.
-
Also, Redemption Song will make you feel all righteous and power to the people! Yeah!
Natural Mystic and Kaya and Easy Skankin' are probably the best weed songs. Oh and Them Belly Full (But We Hungry) is another stick it to the man! song. And 3 O'Clock Roadblock. Fuck it - all of Natty Dread, really.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! REBEL MUUUUU-SIC!!!!
-
I never understood the appeal of Reggae before I started smoking. Same thing goes for jam bands like the Dead.
-
Having a partially Jamaican dad, I grew up with reggae and ska etc.
-
Wait. This post doesn't sound like krsna at all. LEt me change it.
One day I smoked up and then put MAN O WAR on. A few minutes later I realized I was stoned out of my gourd. I wasn't entirely sure that I was able to speak the English language any longer, and explained this to the girl I was FUCKING WITH A phone with at the time. She claimed to understand the words that I was producing and I felt I had been able to communicate the need to get THE PHONE OUT OF HER VAGINA so I hung up AND DROVE HER BACK TO THE STRIP BAR. CAN YOU BELIEVE SHE THEN ASKED ME FOR FIVE BUCKS? I TOLD HER TO GET THE FUCK OUT.
I then realized that I had been listening to the same MAN O WAR song for like four hours (dude, my sense of time was soooo distorted) and it started to freak me out but I was able to convince myself that MAN O WAR songs are really long and it just seemed like four hours because of the time distortion AND THE FACT THAT I PUT ON MY NORSE GARB AND POSED IN THE MIRROR FOR A WHILE. I ended up hanging out STROKING MY SWORD to chill out for a bit and everything was cool after that. In fact, later as I was doing some BITCH I realized that I had become the greatest BITCH washer ever.
I'm really in no hurry to listen to MAN O WAR while I'm high again though. I think I prefer more upbeat stuff, LIKE POISON

All the drugs that you bring, if they're antiquated beyond belief, might just be good enough to get me hiiiiiiigh.
-
I approve of this.
-
Drugs don't make things awesome, they make things awesomer. Kinda like BASF.
-
BASF still exists?
-

seconded.
i also second the statement about listening to radiohead with some good quality h-phones. you hear all sorts of creepy shit in the background that you don't hear on most players, and i'll just lay down and visualize the weirdest stuff. this also applies to the chemical brothers cd: we are the night. i get the weirdest, most interesting mental imagery from that one.
-
Radiohead, the Kid A album, is the best.
-
Vampire Weekend is also good stoned-music-listening. Or drunk-music-listening. Or any-other-kind-of-music-listening.
They just don't get old.
-
si is like totally in love with vampire weekend. pass it on.
-
Seize likes totally in love with the entire weekend. Pass it on.
-
Seize likes to tally his love for the entire weekend. Pass it on.
-
Sixteen tallows a whole week of love monkey dishwater. Piss on it.
-
oh, hells. i just loled for like five minutes.
-
Last time I did I listened to The Doors. Most of Jim's rambling poetry made sense to me then. I mean.. it is awesome stuff but I totally fucking "got it" on weed.
-
Yeah, you always "get" The Doors when on drugs.
-
No no no. I mean like totally totally got it. Like I was in his fucking mind, man!
-
Stand-up bass has really been appealing to me when I've been stoned recently. Psychobilly/rockabilly or even just straight up stand-up bass stuff on youtube.
Bass is really where it's at. I'm toying with the idea of getting an accoustic bass and trying to learn it. I'm a musical retard.
-
Jim Morrison sucks donkey balls, or at least would if he were still alive.
-
Jim Morrison sucks donkey balls, or at least would if he were still alive.
by now, probably yeah
-
The Doors had a few really good songs, but overall they were WAY overrated.

Fuck you.
The Doors had a few really good songs, but overall they were WAY overrated.
And fuck you.

Jim Morrison sucks donkey balls, or at least would if he were still alive.
I would help him find the donkey and I'd enjoy every second of it!!
-
OMG I wanna watch you suck donkey balls! Would you let a horse blow it all over your face?
-
Do you have horses and donkeys in Maine?
Joygasm, how do you feel about sucking a lobster cock?
-
Joygasm, how do you feel about sucking a lobster cock?
Are their cocks anything like the ones that MD blue crabs have??
Oh well, fuck it! I'm up for ANYTHING
-
Is it possible to simultaneously be aroused and disturbed? Cuz I think I am.
-
Pssst! Jim Morrison and The Doors fucking suck!
-
Not as much as you wish you could without destroying your manhood.
-
Is it possible to simultaneously be aroused and disturbed? Cuz I think I am.
That's the best way.
-
Not as much as you wish you could without destroying your manhood.
Woah buddy. Keep your fantasies to yourself.
-
I get lost in nine inch nails when I'm stoned as fuck. Every time I listen to it when stoned, I hear something I havnt heard before. Its like opening the same book to fairy tale land but getting a completely different story every time.
-
I highly recommend the NIN With Teeth Blu-ray, stoned as fuck, viewed huge from an HD projector.
-
Two excellent stoned-listening songs:

Yeah. Minus the Bear is fantastic.
-
HA! I knew you were a mellow dude.
-
me? yeah, I'm pretty mellow. but musically, I listen to all sorts of moods of stuff.
