I love and miss the sound of water. It totally relaxes me. I grew up spending every weekend at a beach house and hearing rain fall on my roof. These days I'm stuck in a concrete box in Tokyo and I miss being around running water a lot. When it rains (like tonight, massive storms) open a couple of windows and just listen to it fall outside with a glass of wine.
Yes, I know I need to get out of the city. Soon... soon.
Anyone else the same?
-
I'll take pics of the pool and the river in my back yard for ya ....
Or do you prefer video?
-
I have several nature sounds files, thunderstorms, rain and birds that I often like to play on a loop while sleeping. Yeah I find the rain sounds quite relaxing as well.
-
having grown up on the cape, i don't ever see myself being able to live far from the ocean. it's a thirty second drive to the bay from my apartment, and about a 2 minute one to get to the atlantic. i could never give it up. it's too beautiful, too relaxing. standing at the ocean's edge with the waves lapping at your feet in the sand-- that's a good sound right there.
-
I lived right near the ocean (Neptune/Atlantic Beach) for years; I rarely went ...
-
I live within a few minutes' drive of hundreds of beaches, yet rarely bother going. That said, I know what Nick means about comforting sounds. Rain on a galvenized roof sounds awesome, and I always feel like something's missing when I go away and don't hear crickets and tree frogs at night.
-
Dont you like..sweep the beach out of you house ?
-
Nah. If I stand on my porch, I can see a little bit of the sea. From my roof, I can see a bunch of it. But it's a little over two blocks away from my house.
-
Fuckit. I'll google-earth it.

the sound of waves makes me feel dizzy.
-
I was expecting larger sand masses. Stupid I know.
-
actually, just thinking about that sound is making me dizzy right now. to the point of feeling like i should probably go lay down.
-

They're around, just not on that exact piece of shoreline.
-
I think for me it's part of the "grass is greener" syndrome. I'm based in Minato in Tokyo, about 500 yards from the Tokyo tower and have a pretty sweet life in terms of work, marriage, fun etc. This town is great to be in when you're young for sure. Just miss the water sometimes.

Yes, there are ponies on the beach.. awesomeness.
You can see Assateague in the beach scene of the movie Wedding Crashers..
-
that looks beautiful. I hope Global Warming doesn't wash it away.
I had never heard of it, but "Ocean City" sounds sweet
-
They do beach replenishment every four years to try to keep up. Assateague is a state and national park so it's all natural with only the dunes to protect it. Only time will tell.
-
What is that first one, a sacrificial housing project to the hurricane gods?
-
Hahaha! Well, the inlet (shown south of the top pic) was created by a hurricane in 1933. Never had a bad one since, except Gloria, which took the boardwalk apart in the 80's.

......*snore*.......WAIT WHAT?? Oh, nothing happened.....I'ma go back to sleep

I think saw a tv spot about a seeing eye pony once.
is this the confetti you know ?
-
Looks like it ...
Where's this one from?
-
Does not say..but all other google pages with confetti and FL in them have the owners name as Cheryl Spencer.
-
I think that's her, actually ...
-
It would be poor form to steal another seeing eyes ponys name.... I'm assuming they have some kind of networking thing. The owners..not the ponies.
-
Again, I don't know ...
-
That pony is almost as magical as a dancing elf to me.
-
Confetti's cool, actually ...
-
How do they train it to not just shit wherever it wants?
The horse that is.
