I have a friend who has been married for, like, 7 years. They have the strangest relationship imo. Hubby has this thing where he is is always checking on her and he seems to doubt she is telling the truth. Sometimes she does lie. But mostly by omission. "Yeah. I'm at MacGirlver's. She has some clothes her kids outgrew that will look cute on Ivy." What she omit is that, while on the phone, she is in the garage with me smoking a bowl. If she tells him she's smoking with me, he will pout about it cuz he wasn't there.
Now her hubby could have just come with her, but he chose to stay home and drink while grandma had the baby for the weekend.
Its like, risk getting into a fight with a hubby who is maybe drunk when you get home and ruin your baby-free night or omit that you were hanging out with a friend smoking, go home and have a nice baby-free night?
I can't say I blame her for her choice.
One time she comes in the door of my place and hands me the phone. "Just tell him hi and that I'm here."
"Uh..ok. hey K. What's up?"
"This is...?" He asks
"MacGirlver. How's it going?"
My friend then takes the phone. "See I told you! Of course she is gonna think you're retarded!" Geez!" Then hung up. "He told me to 'not make him look retarded' but shit!"
Another time she mentioned her and her hubby are a lot like Doug and Carrie on "King of Queens". I think she is right. They are a more real-life version of those characters.
