Horror shows and crime shows where the people have a chance to end the nightmare and then just fuck off.

What the fuck is wrong with directors these days? I mean back in the day we didn't know any better, but that was 40 years ago.

These days the same old formulas are being used. Like in a movie I watched last night called 'Safe House.'  Ok the bad guys can't get in but are trying, opportunity arises for the man to take the assholes by surprise, they left a shotgun leaning against a wall while they tried to cut into a protected area with concrete saws. The guy sneaks out and makes it to the shotgun but then pussies out hiding in the shadows and eventually looses all advantage he ever had, never even fired a shot. He hides and waits until the assholes have their guns out ready for action. 

Mother fucker, this pisses me off more than anything, he had the opportunity to waste the assholes straight up, all he had to do was step out and open fire. End of story.

I feel so dirty for even watching that piece of crap.

Doesn't beat the 1987 shit film adaptation of V.C. Andrews shittier "Flowers in the Attic" with a young Kristy Swanson. What a horribly thought-out concept for a thriller.

IMHO, Cabin In The Woods fell apart script-wise. It was probably written as a monster flick then they added the whole mysterious government agency and death at the hands of pissed-off, subterranean gods. The beginning was okay although the last twenty minutes was fatiguingly overdone.

Its more a comedy than a horror, but I still stand by Tucker & Dale vs Evil.

And I also still think that anything, ANYTHING made by Disney is a horror.

American Warships (2012) was pretty good too.

Never did find out where the aliens came from. The only thing I found annoying is that the US fleet was decimated in short order leaving only one moth balled war ship as a last hope. The USS Iowa, a decommissioned tourist attraction. The survivors of the last battle arrive to try and get the ship going but don't have a clue how to operate such an old ship. But not to worry, a group of the old sailors who originally served on the ship show up.

What I found annoying was that they were able to get the ship fueled and running and even found ammo for the ships deck guns in like no time at all.

I was thinking that as a tourist attraction for decades it would be nearly impossible for a small ragtag group to get it back in action even if they had weeks. I mean once they are decommissioned and made into tourist attractions they are hardly still operational.

But I just found out it may not have been such a big job after all. It seems the ship is moved once and a while (under it's own power) to different venues.

If fact, it leaves SF bay for LA tomorrow!

The one I was talking about is just called "Battleship" and the name of the warship is the USS Missouri

Well I just watched "American Warships", I already had it downloaded possibly one reason I got the titles mixed up. Also a similar alien invasion though.

I learned that in 2006 a Washington directive declared that all Iowa class battleships including the USS Missouri be maintained in a state of readiness in case of national emergency. This also includes maintaining a store of munitions for the big guns on board. So while they are tourist attractions and floating museums they could still be pressed into battle in short order.

The USS Iowa is right now en-route to LA. The USS Missouri is a museum ship stationed at Pearl Harbor but is being maintained functional.   

A good one is The Changeling (1980) with George C. Scott. Creepy as hell.

The worst horror I ever saw was probably Shock Waves (1977), but I still liked it because that's how I roll. Nazi zombies, woken up by tourists. It has Grand Moff Tarkin in.

I've been on something of a zombie roll lately so I just started downloading Shock Waves. I've almost certainly seen it before but it would have been a long time ago.

I don't really watch horror films.  Partly because they're mostly stupid but also because I'm spookedy and have an overactive imagination.

I bet you would like "The Adjustment Bureau" though. Starts out a little slow but gets better. A strange cousin of MIB sort of.

Yes I did, and I loved it.  Wouldn't really classify it as horror, though.  Sci-fi/suspense, maybe.

I watched a film earlier today called "Thirst", which reinforced my decision to never spend money in a theater again.  If I'd paid to see this film I would have thrown a fit and demanded not only my money back but that they rewind the Earth like fucking Superman so that I could get the wasted time back.  In this film [SPOILERS ETC]:

A.) A first-year medical student tries to perform a trepanation on a girl's skull with a rock and a screwdriver because she's afraid of her slipping into a coma as the result of a concussion.
B.)  The three others hydrate themselves by drinking a rattlesnake's blood after killing it with a rock.
C.)  One of the idiots dies being the "guinea pig" to test some water they found after the medical student tells him that it smells like garlic and definitely has arsenic in it, making her boyfriend throw the water back up.
D.)  Later, boyfriend cuts his own throat so his girlfriend can drink his blood.

Now those aren't technically so far-fetched.  Blood *can* hydrate you and natural arsenic compounds do smell like garlic (from what I've been able to find at least), and people can be complete morons in the face of adversity/death.  But then:

E.) Medical student girl jury-rigs a needle & IV tube setup and uses her dead friend's breast implants - taken from her mostly skeletal remains after a wolf has eaten most of her - to hydrate herself intravenously.

So yeah.

Edit: Hmm, so after looking it up some more it seems the drinking your urine for hydration is actually bullshit.  Nice to know.
