I hate Ohio for alot of reasons.

One-third of a pound of C-4 explosive was removed from the basement of a home

WTF is in their WATER?!?

We hated that state, too ~ semi speed limits that are ridiculous, so on and so forth

Alright, dickhead, thank you for scaring me before I saw the second story was unrelated.

I had already told her she was safe as long as she stayed inside and away from her windows, since it was apparently only pipe bombs. (She had called her friend's father, the sheriff, after the first explosion.)

No kidding!

Sort of like hearing that they found the pipe bomb stuff,

C-4,

AND (my imagination:)  the makings for an Atomic Dirty Bomb,

as well as all the equipment and ingredients for a meth lab, in the trunk,

and Oh!  Oops!  One of the officer's was smoking, setting off the C-4, causing a chain reaction and basically blowing the entire township off the face of the map

for a LONG time

C4 is harmless without a detonator, actually.

You can burn it like wood.


And there's not much damage a bomb can do to Youngstown that Youngstown hasn't done to itself.

I think there are much easier things people could do if they were hellbent on being a terrorist.

For all of the noise about dirty bombs that pops up, I've always thought a chemical terrorist act was far more likely because some of those things are relatively easy to manufacture (or some common chemicals are pretty horrible without any additional effort at all).  Especially when you consider that the US lets people in the country on student visas and grants them access to science programs all of the time...  or potential homegrown terrorists, for that matter.

I don't know how Australia is on that, but I can't imagine you guys are much better.

People are terrified by what they can't see and what they don't understand. "Nuclear" as a concept has been a a bogeyman for years. It's completely irrational, but there we are. Look at Greenpeace.

Education is now our 3rd biggest industry. It is a mess. they are getting fucked over by 'private' schools run by people who make students sign in and out of classrooms to go to the bathroom. and worse.

We are creating terrorists.

 Alright, turned out it was the fucking bomb squad detonating the pipe bombs to dispose of them, on-scene.

 Youngstown's finest just didn't feel any need to mention this when they were warning locals to stay inside.

Sadly, a lot of departments/agencies are like that.

Her new boyfriend initially pulled her away from the window when she went to look, but then gave up when she went back and was sticking her head out it to see what was happening (she's the curious, thrill-seeking type).

My reaction to hearing this last night, though I kept it to myself, was that I would break every bone in his body if anything happened to her, and that if I had been there I would have drug her away from the window, slapped her, and locked her in the fucking broom closet if necessary.

That is crazy, crazy shit.

The mid west does suck, that is why I moved my ass to the West Coast.
