#1 - Moving away from the dollar has been discussed for a long time & the moves aren't exactly secret.  The timing & pace of transitioning away is a bit of a mystery, but the move away from dollars is inevitable given that American empire is in decline.

#2 - Why is a uk website full of Americans talking about how much they hate Obama in the comments?  Ultimately, it doesn't have to do with any particular president and has everything to do with the rest of the world being sick of being subject to the whims of cocksuckers like Alan Greenspan & various other US economic policy makers.  I think the most complimentary thing you could say about US economic policy since maybe as far back as the end of WW2 is that it was short sighted.

I'm not an economist so I can't analyze all the ramifications from this, but a hunch tells me the US wants the dollar to be in the driving seat.

Besides, the worlds financial IT systems are absolutely not ready to trade vs a fancy hybrid basket. This would take 3-5 years to set up.

Of course we're outsourcing our competitive edge. It's expensive to keep in here in the US. It's much cheaper to let a third world nation sublet our competitive edge, even though they will soon surpass our level of technology. But that makes them NOT a third world nation. So ultimately it's good for the world.

Anyway, it's not like we're sending jobs to those Afghani mongoloids, right?

The cause of all this is Australia raising their interest rates because their economy is probably the strongest in the world right now as far as stability and soundness.

AU is slave to the Asians now.

This guy seems to think that depreciating the dollar (making it less valuable vs. other currency) will ignite manufacturing jobs in the midwest, etc. but I don't know how sound that theory is.  I would be very skeptical of it, because I would bet those jobs are gone for good, even considering dollar-depreciated exchange rates for export production, producers still aren't going to hire americans back at high wages when they can get third world people to do it for less.
(I'm studying this exact stuff right now in an International Econ. class so it's interesting to read about and discuss things going on).

The machinery for the low skilled labour was in the US sold off years ago. The unkilled assembly jobs were also exported. Mostly to a country that restricts everybodies ability to invest and has massive savings. The old 2nd world is running the show now. They were the first world at one point and they are making a comeback. Not suprising really.

We still rely on the USA making more mistakes.

It was more the fact that folks couldn't afford to LIVE on one salary,

and peeps needed to watch their spending, in order to TRY to have enough for savings and/or investments, imho.

Add to that the fact that we're taxed, and taxed,

while trying to "provide" a better life-style for those less fortunate, many of whom are just "playing the system," and i'm speaking of countries as well as people.
