Loaded-Gun.com - I don't know what the hell they are talking about or why they are even there. They don't make serious points and they don't joke, but they still manage to make a lot of posts somehow.

Other than Black Hole Sun, I can't think of any songs of theirs I liked. Chris Cornell also ruined any chance of Audioslave being awesome, which I really wanted them to be.

I did like the Bond song he did, though.

I am a fan of their tracks Noise Pollution and Jesus Christ Pose.

Blow up the outside world and The day I tried to live

Are my two favorites.

A lot of their stuff (and most early 90s grunge) sounds stale and derivative nowadays.  It probably was at the time as well, but back then I was like 10 so I thought it was awesome.
Pour the wine, hold the grind, quarter to nine, let's go.

I think some grunge aged OK.  Mudhoney still sounds pretty good.  Most of the bands that had radio hits don't.  I listened to some Nirvana over the blizzard and they still sound ok - especially the really early stuff, it sounds pretty close to some of the garagey/noisey/whatever rock that is still popular in some subcultures today.

All grunge is stale as shit and has not stood the test of time. It sounds so pathetically dated. Luckily most of the 90s was a complete waste for music.
Go on haters, hate!

Like Emp, I agree that some early Nirvana holds up, but not all of it - but what isnt so dated is mostly things from bleach and the peppier shit from insecticide.

When I think of grunge, I think of 1991-1994 and I think of Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains.  Temple of the Dog "Hunger Strike" is probably my favorite overall time-tested.

Alice in Chains didn't age well, neither did Nirvana or Soundgarden.  Pearl Jam is okay, but I never was really into them, they just have one or two really good songs on their main albums that are still carrying up the rest of their mediocre catalog.

Chad, that was when Grunge had gone mainstream. It was the local underground music for 5 years before then. When it made it's way south and The Melvins were headlining at the Whiskey, it was over. By '91 it was all commercial shit. No wonder Cobain killed himself. When it was all small clubs and Eddie didn't think he was Jim Morrison yet, the music was really cool and there was a lot of acoustic sets.

I did say "When I think of Grunge" I realize you guys have more perspective on it.

1991 was about the time I was able to start forming cognizant thoughts about anything, being about 6-7 years old, so I do not remember the underground era preceding that time.

Grunge never really did it for me that much. Some Nirvana and a couple of Pearl Jam songs were pretty good, but I was way more into Britpop and dancehall and techno in the pop-Grunge stage of the 90's. Thank fuck I got into punk eventually.

I dont hate Mother Love Bone, but they did become Pearl Jam, so they have to bear responsibility for Eddie Vedder.

I cant listen to Alice In Chains anymore... but Screaming Tree's stuff is still awesome.

Chris, I agree for the most part... I blame Pearl Jam and the effects are still being felt with the popularity of steaming piles of bullshit like Nickleback and Hinder.

There was some excellent stuff though... Butthole Surfers, Screaming Trees, Mudhoney...

I don't give a shit about who listens to what and whether it's good or original. Music is like beer, drink it if you like it and everyone else can fuck off.
