BTW, yes, I do realize that the thread title is kind of ironic considering the fact that I still use my old hotmail account.

I was always kind of pissed by friendster on account of the fact that I was never invited by a friend to join.

What's not to get?

Friendster is a social networking site like Facebook.

Si's post reveals to us that photo-tagging has just become available on it. This is kind of silly because Facebook has been doing this for years. Si thinks Friendster is behind the times. I agree. So the subject line can be seen as something of an ironic joke.

I posted that friendster has always irritated me because I was never invited to it. One feature of Friendster is the ability to recommend that your friends join. You do this by giving Freidnster your freind's email address. Nobody gave Friendster my email address so I felt bad and I redirected this bad feeling into annoyance with Friendster. You see it wasn't so much that my friends had not invited me as it was the fact that Friendster made me feel as though my friends' failure to invite me indicated that they didn't consider me a friend.

All clear now?

I think it was better that way.  Precisely for that reason.  And because it locked out anyone who was older than a college student.
