Random Rant: I HAVE NO FUCKING AIR CONDITIONING.  AND I LIVE IN TEXAS.

My AC is is broken and I haven't been able to sleep because of it for days.  I can't sleep when it's hot, it's impossible.  The best I can manage is passing out for a few minutes every so often.  At this point I'm at the brink of seeing shit.

I just went outside and turned the compressor's circuit breaker back on, and it's blowing cold now but the original problem is that it was locking up and wasn't blowing cold and wouldn't shut itself off and was radiating heat while clicking or something.  So either being off for a few days fixed it or I'll be dead from a fire by the morning, so these may very well be my last words:

If it's a newer ac ( split system,room or portable). Its the electronic temp fucking up. solution new electronic temp pcb. frimware is also an poss issue ( not reco. temp pcb error nor accepting manual override )

for an older room ac ( those boxes hung in windows ). just dissconnect the temp gauge, that should fix the problem. if the problem isnt fix with this, the its a newer old ac and needs the temp for it's auto shut down. The solution to that it dissconnect the auto shut down.

The clicking noise is key, and " radiating " is an interesting word.... not blowing heat ? if it was radiating check the side panels for heat... inside and outside boxes ( i can tell yours it split ( you went outside to flip a switch)), As you don't have a baseline for how hot your system runs, umm, if you burn yourself on metal (if you can access internals), you got a problem. Turn it off.

As for the AC, it's a really old outside unit connected to the central AC I guess, I know fuck all about air conditioning units.  My father said "it was clicking on and off and there was shitloads of heat coming off of it" so he switched off the breaker.  I got sick of sweating waiting for the AC guy to show up so I turned it back on tonight just to see if it'd blow cold.  It did for a bit, but now doesn't seem to be doing much, but I just went outside and checked it and it's not hot, and is still blowing air out the top so I'm gonna let it run for awhile and see what happens.  Thanks for the advice, though.

At least its now gone from Hell on Earth to somewhat bearable.  Maybe I'll even get some decent sleep tonight if I'm lucky.

Variable output is the classic symptom of a dying heat pump. My advice is to scrape together $4000 and buy some new equipment that is NOT a heat pump. You live too far in the heat zone for that anyway. Or it could be a charge issue as Joe said.

in the meantime, you can rig up a poor man's evaporative cooler with some ice water soaked towels and a fan. put it right by your bed.

i like rice milk sometimes. i don't know that i've ever enjoyed any kind of soy milk. perhaps i'm drinking the wrong brands.

I tried soy milk once. Some brand called "Silk" that I bought in Brookshire's, the vanilla flavor.  It was way to sweet, and the texture was... slimy, or something.  I didn't like it.  I couldn't imagine putting that crap on cereal.

I've been drunking soymilk for a long time now and cow's milk actually tastes disgusting to me now. I never really liked cow's milk.

we get our milk deivered twice a week from the local dairy. it's pure heaven. doesn't taste a thing like store bought. store bought milk all tastes kinda rotten. even the 1% milk i drink is rich and sweet.

but yeah, soy products kinda make me ill. i had a stint as a vegan about 10 years ago. lasted several years until my hair started falling out. so i learned to hunt.
