I just re-read, "take care of my two plants, my two cats, and me.." and stifled a laugh.  Kyle has turned into a 35+ woman from match.com.

I remember who you are talking about, I can't remember what his handle was either though.  I remember he was from humboldt and always talked about how the weed was the best there.

Yeah, volatile was Matt, I think he started out as photoXsynthesis on my post-A-S board, W&P. I think (but may be wrong) that he never posted on A-S, or if he did, for an even more brief time period than I did.

And he wasn't from Humboldt but went to school there, and pretty much didn't smoke weed. It was Pepper who spoke about how great the Humboldt shit is, and I'm glad to say that I can now vouch for this!

The difference is AS was years ahead of its time. ICQ was just derivative of AOL.

There was a lot of stuff that ICQ did which was better than what AIM did at the time.  :P
Like yours.  Only different.

I liked the file transfers. For memory you could even throttle them.

I stopped using ICQ about the same time I got promoted to management at my job. Part of the reason was that when highlighted (respected) players send bets our bet monitor uses the same "uh-oh" sound ICQ did for received messages.

ICQ was great for sending BackOrifice to people by using extended file names.

And file transfer. I used to have some awesome pics.
