Quote from: Emperor Reagan
And then the Son of the Lord walked out of the tomb and spoke to Mary, "Thou shallt stuff theyself with bacon, for it is the will of God." - Mark 48:36

And then Jesus went into the wilderness.  After fasting for 40 days and nights, he gorged himself on 30 Kosher beef franks in 36 minutes, setting what was then the Guinness World Record.  - Acts 16:94

The Bible is full of such versus.

It's completely nonsense, but I cannot book online a flight which goes AUS -> EWR -> NRT -> AUS.

I can book two trips - one for AUS <-> EWR and one for EWR <-> NRT.  That costs about $1200 ($400+$800).

I can also book AUS -> EWR -> NRT -> IAH -> AUS, but that costs FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS.

So, Brook, can I stay at your place Saturday night, when we get back from Japan?

(Also, I'll be calling Continental to see if I can book the first flight desc over the phone for a reasonable cost.  If not, whatever.)

FINAL evaluation for my eyes and being cleared of all complications on THURSDAY ...
I'm told this is going to be the last one and if all's the same, and the injection doesn't cause problems, I'll be 100% cleared for a long flight and can make my arrangements ...

Sorry, it's been a long issue with my PRK/Lasik ...
(I had unusually thick retnas, and, as a result, I needed a PRK shaving of them, and then traditional lasik; as a result, my "flap" was weaker then most and, although they anticipated at least one infection, I got none, but the flap took a while to take and heal properly; it's supposedly over the past month been healing as normal, and my doctors know my plans and have been working hard to help me make it happen.  I was supposed to be cleared last month, however, they saw a "spot" and needed to make sure it's all good, and it seems to be, so we should be good.  I WILL NOT compromise my eyesight, obviously, but we'll do what we have to do.  I'm thinking it'll be fine, sorry for the delays, I just didn't know anything positive until recently, and they really think it's "all clear" at this point.)

Thanks for your concern, and thanks for your patience ...

  • Prefer to have my own room.
  • Sasha, I am up for both Kyoto and seeing the Tokyo National Museum.
  • If anybody wants to stop by the creepy used-panties shop in Shibuya with me  (creepiest and most surreal place I have ever been, hand's down), I am going to try and get some undercover video of it with my Kodak Zi8 which I have on pre-order. 1080P 30ps HD quality video! I bought a pair of used panties last time, so no need to throw another $40 down the drain.
  • There's also this really cool little bookstore in Shinjuku, near where the Lonestar hotel is, that has crates and crates of Japanese movie press-kits. I bought three last time I was there -- Ghostbusters, The Toxic Avenger (that was a find!!), and for a great Italian horror, Suspiria. I'm going to try and find some more good ones.
  • Just bought my JR rail ticket. $306 total, with FedEx Standard shipping
  • I will be looking over hotel information and booking within the next couple of weeks.

Kyle...

I found a creepier sex shop in Akihabara...

As for hotels, try to find one around Tamachi or Shinagawa...

Dont forget to get your fuckin JR rail pass, or it'll cost you beaucoup just getting around.

Just a note: I'm organizing things to do in the evenings in Tokyo based on people staying within walking distance of the Tamachi and Hamamatsucho stations. If you're anywhere else, you'll likely lose whatever savings you make with drunk taxi rides home.

Hotels in Tokyo:

Can I make the following suggestion since Brook and Sasha seem to be on the tightest budget here and Kyle wants his own room?

Brook and Sasha share. Lucas solo, Kyle solo.
If Dave's eyeball is small enough to get on a plane then He can share with Sasha and Brook can share with Luke.

OK?

I'm getting a room.  Brook can stay with me.  She doesn't HAVE to stay with me, but she can.

If she doesn't, there's no impact on my life beyond that point.  :)

Brook, are you OK with this? You two can sit around in your underwear listening to Kyle hyperventilate through the wall as he tries to will the concrete invisible.

Just get your train ticket sorted. It'll cost you $300, but you're looking at about $750 in train tickets if you don't have it.
