I work the graveyard shift though.  I guess I will be the champ and overcome any jet lag!  Take that international date line motherfucker!

My fucking air conditioner is broken at my place, so I am at a coffee shop to escape the heat. It's 92 degrees in my condo. I hope my cats don't die.

Anyway, I'm always weary of purchasing/entering information over a public wifi internet connection. I'm going to wait until my A/C is fixed tomorrow, and can use my desktop at home for making the reservations.

Re: Final Check - Hotels & JR Passes Reply #212 on: September 03, 2009, 07:20:11 AM
I booked a Ladies Room at the Gracery, no boys allowed!  I couldn't buy that rail pass because my roommate doesn't have a job and I had to cover her rent and bills.  I hate roommates.  I am going to get my own place when I turn 30.  It will be my birthday present to myself that year.

Tell her she better get out on the street corner ASAP and earn your money. Then tell her your pimp hand is strong.

Do you mean leery?

This would have been a good time to test the gf/fb thing.  If you told the girl your A/C was broke and asked to stay with her until it was fixed, you'd get the answer to "is this my girlfriend?" pretty quick.

No, I meant wary. Blame it on the 3:30am posting.

Ok, my accommodations are taken care of. Hotel room booked.

Now one of you just has to buy me a rail pass and we will be all set for this trip! Yea! Can I get a high five?!

Re: Final Check - Hotels & JR Passes Reply #217 on: September 06, 2009, 10:26:03 AM
I can't order it until the 15th of this month

FINE.  I will buy my own.

2 girls sharing a room- I think this requires wine coolers, pillow fights, gossiping, and calling boys and hanging up on them when they answer!

only loose end is Sasha's train-pass right?   Sasha, if that looks dicey, why don't you ask Kyle to chuck it on his credit card so you know you'll get it before you're due to leave? Would be a shame for someone to miss the trip to Hiroshima.

Just FYI - my shink tickets are more than the bloody JR pass

Why can't I buy a second JR pass for you, Nick, and then you just pay me back?  Is there a reason that wouldn't work?

Re: Hiroshima Reply #224 on: September 09, 2009, 11:13:14 AM
Unfortunately it's only for travelers. The first time you use it, you need to get it stamped and they check your passport to see you're a tourist.

That reminds me, you'll need to have your passport on you the entire time for legal and travel reasons. If you haven't got one I suggest a holder for it.

I never really bothered with that passport carrying thing.

I think the Japanese view me as a big friendly harmless gaijin.

I know some places in Akihabara where you can buy double ended dildo's

Re: Hiroshima Reply #227 on: September 10, 2009, 12:51:20 AM
Oh shit, I've had bad experiences the both times I have stayed at a hostel. Hostels are for hippies.

The last night in Costa Rica, Katie and I stayed at a hostel in San Jose and it had a shared bathroom. I got up to pee in the middle of the night and the floor was all fucking wet. Who knows if it was piss, toilet overflow, sweat, vomit, semen or what. The shower and sinks were in a completely different room. Also, there was some lady screaming almost all night long and that made for a very restful evening.

Second time I was in Vancouver, BC Canada with my mom. Shared bathroom again, but this one wasn't bad. Weird smells around though. A god damn crane started hammering into the ground over and over about 4:30am!!! AM!!!

Anyway, yeah sounds cool to me. I'll have my iPod to drown out any cranes or screaming women.

you're in Japan dude, and we got our own room. If you want, you can have a single room on your own with a private bathroom....

....leaving luke, Sasha, tricky and I alone with the video camera mwahahahaha

Is this the same place that sells used panties? The one you sent me a map of that is like under some JR line tracks? I still want to see that place, but the place in Shibuya I found is awesomely creepy too.

Re: Hiroshima Reply #230 on: September 10, 2009, 08:47:39 AM
I found a place in Ueno that was pretty creepy, but not in the same league as that place in Akihabara.

At least the shop with the calendars of very young semi nekkid girls is gone...

Nick doesn't have an NZ passport still?  :D

Re: Hiroshima Reply #236 on: September 11, 2009, 03:33:12 AM
I don't know if my job is going to let me go to Japan.  I put in my request for time off a week ago and haven't heard anything back yet.  Also, my coworker said that since I am still in my 6 month probationary period she doesn't think they will let me go.  It really sucks that I will have to put in my two week notice in a month, especially after I have built up 6 days of time for this by working holidays.

Re: Hiroshima Reply #237 on: September 11, 2009, 04:41:14 AM
this is the job that you hate and want to quit?

Yes it is, but almost every single person I know hates their job.  Hating my job is irrelevant.  Earning money is relevant.
