i think vista got a lot of bad press, and they did make some improvements but man is it a fucking resource hog

id let that slide if except for the fact that people pay money for this.

i tried one of the windows 7 beta builds but all it did was hose my partition table. even after i formatted everything off the drive it still couldnt install, and there was nothing online with the error. i heard some people had luck using something like the gparted live cd and formating the drive with ntfs before the install but that didnt work for me either.

crazy.  i've not seen anyone with that particular problem.
I have a tablet PC that won't load W7 RC from the external DVD drive; I haven't taken the time to remember how I got the beta to work.
i'm sorry you lost your former install due to the beta.

Loaded-Gun.com - I don't know what the hell they are talking about or why they are even there. They don't make serious points and they don't joke, but they still manage to make a lot of posts somehow.

computer nerd, meet finance nerd.  hi nick!

I enjoy the best of both worlds!

Due to my laziness, I never got around to downloading the Windows 7 beta client install, until last night. I am hesitant to put it on my main machine, (currently running Vista) but I am copying the installation files to a flash drive and will be installing it on my Asus 1000HE netbook tomorrow! Err... concert tomorrow. Uhh, Friday! Err... another concert AND pussy on Friday... ok on Saturday! Priorities.

Finance, technology, music and gadgetry is where it's fuckin' AT.

Not bad, not bad.

But back to Windows 7 RC. Unfortunately since the netbook doesn't have an optical drive and I don't have a usb one at home, I had to make a bootable flash drive with the Windows 7 installation.

Worked like a champ and after I grab some dinner I going to start exploring this new Windows 7. *Rubs hands together* Nerdy excitement!
