I got my bike out of storage this weekend. New tires, tubes, and pedals cost 70 bucks and took about a half hour to replace. I took it on a nice ride of a nearby park and had a great time.

The gears still need tuning though, and I really can't bear the thought of paying some bike shop another sixty bucks just to turn a couple of screws. I'm just going to have to figure it out on my own.

Oh yeah, it definitely needs a friendlier saddle, fo sho!

Speaking of which, I hooked back up Amy's and my bikes the other day. Tyres needed pumping up, little WD40, etc. We went for a nice little ride and yesterday I noticed that one of Amy's spokes snapped. Damnit. Must've been cuz she hadn't ridden the thing in a while. Oh well, just something else to fix!

Crazy, I don't think I've ever heard of a spoke breaking.

They seem to get brittle when they're not used often enough. It's weird.

Adjusting those stupid set screws to get the shifting right is probably the most annoying part of bike maintenance.

Yeah, but you only have to do it a couple of times per year, right? I don't have a bike stand but I can suspend it from the rafters with a couple of ropes, and that should make things easier.

Get a coaster brake cruiser with fat tires. Problem solved.
