Today when I meandered....... I walked from my car to the front door of my house, smoked a cigarette, then went to my bathroom, got ready for bed, went to sleep, woke up, ate something, smoked another cigarette, got into my car, drove to work, and that was my day.  I swear I will never exercise or give a shit about my health again... just too tired all the time.

Re: Meandering ... Reply #121 on: August 17, 2009, 03:44:05 AM
I made it to the gym today, even through I was tired out from the weekend. I feel great for it, although a power-nap is on the menu

Been up since 5:30am, so I'm already feeling tired (early mornings really don't agree with me). But hopefully I'll still make it to the gym later on.

I am going to ask for a stationary bike for x-mas.  I hate gyms.  I feel really self conscious when I'm there.

Weird?  Yes.  Disgusting?  Definitely.  Fucked?  Maybe not...

Lots of aboriginal peoples believe that by eating the flesh of another human, you gain their physical prowess.  If you eat the brain, you gain the intelligence.  i believe that there are numerous tests with lab rats that actually prove the brain thang ~ after eating the brain of a rat that knew a certain maze, they could then "remember" it, and do it, even though they'd never even seen it.

When are y'all going to get it?  i believe in Science ~ IT was my first god!  Now, i believe in both God AND Science, because, from where i stand?  They are NOT mutually exclusive.  i truly believe the one proves the other, and vice versa.  It seems like y'all are stuck in the Old Testament, of punishment for sin, and an angry God.  That isn't the way it is in the New Testament, and THAT's where i live, as a forgiven sinner who, because i'm human, continues to sin, but REPENTS of those sins, until i can get free of them.

And i don't mean to sound ugly, here ~ it's just that y'all have some bizarre conception of God that i've never even considered, and it freaks me out.

Kierkegaard says in Fear and Trembling, "If there were no eternal consciousness in a man, if at the foundation of all there lay only a wildly seething power which writhing with obscure passions produced everything that is great and everything that is insignificant, if a bottomless void never satiated lay hidden beneath all--what then would life be but despair?"

Fyrenza believes in religion because, to a lot of people, it makes them okay with the idea of dying.  That is why people cling to religion as they get older.

It's called "Sitting in God's waiting room" and is a tradition in my family that I intend to break. I have no fear of death, hence I have no need to take comfort from an afterlife in the bosom of Jesus.

OK, fair enough. So in the name of "Science", show us some proof of these "numerous tests" that prove that rat/brain/maze thing.

To start, a book, about human intelligence being passed by cannibalism:

And this:

however, most of the links require membership for you to view the entire article.  Let me know if you want to spend the bucks, and i'll send the links.

Here's that book's only review:

Quote
I had a very strange experience with this book, I read it after it was recommended to me by a colleague. I felt like I was discovering the sick perverted truth about human evolution, or "deevolution" as Maerth describes, everything seemed to fit into place, from the history of head hunting to the story of Adam and Eve -turns out it is nothing more than a parable about how we became disconnected from God, by eating the brains of others of our own kind over thousands of years because of its aphrodisiacal effects. The tree of knowledge represented a man and the fruit his brain. By eating brain, we gained knowledge and intelligence but we lost our telepathic union with God that other animals have, we became oversexed and crazed, Maerth says that as a result of this perverted practice our brains became too big for our heads and function through mass psychosis that causes wars, environmental damage, crime and other human tragedies. The weird part is that I had been a huge DEVO fan years before and never realized till later on that they were inspired by this cannibal ape theory. In fact one of their albums is called Now it can be told, the truth about deevolution" which is the same as the cover of Kiss Maerths's seminol work, "The Beginning was the End"

Uh, OK.

And this:

http://msgboard.snopes.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=104;t=000651;p=1

A story about a high school girl winning a local science fair? That's the best you can come up with?

As i said, No, but you've got to be willing to pay for membership at the sites that have the scientific articles.  Evidently, they consider their intellectual labor to be salable, and for the most part, they're right.

I believe in religion not because I fear dying but because I fear a lot of other things.

Frankly, religion causes my fear of dying. Reincarnation scares me and from what I've heard there ain't a fucking chance I'm getting out of the cycle anytime soon.

But then I'm still very much undecided on a lot of what I believe...everything.

i believe in Jesus, because i really don't know how to live, as proven by the major catastrophes in my life, and enjoy the peace of knowing that, although i'm not perfect, He didn't make "junk," He knows who and HOW i am, and He's welcomed me into His family.

i have nothing to fear.

And i didn't fear death, before ~ if anything, i embraced it and longed for it.

Fearing death is fearing life. It's like fearing tomorrow's sunrise. Fuck it. We're alive as long as we get to be alive, then that's it. Just enjoy it while you can.
