Yeah well the end of worlders believe that there could have been microblackholes generated or stranglets and we would have no means of detecting them until they grew big enough to be a problem. Especially with micro black holes. If one were ejected with less momentum than required to reach escape velocity it would oscillate in a transverse pattern back and forth through the earth losing momentum as it did and would eventually settle in the core of the planet where the consumption process would then really begin.

The planet would literally collapse from the inside out. But the time scale is up for grabs. Some think it may take less than five years for it presence to be known but that could stretch to a much longer period, even billions of years because nothing can be previously known about such a potential occurrence.
