Y'all wanted/needed some "new blood" around here, so Zoomie goes out and does his damnedest to rustle up some cool folks, INCLUDING closing another board on another forum, and inviting those posters to come here.
Then, when they get here,
all y'all can do is tear 'em up and yell at them about what they're doing that you don't like? :o

Do y'all NOT want to "meet" us ~ as in, get to know us a little bit before deciding that we're just a bunch of dorks?
We don't want to come in and immediately start rocking the boat, but every one of the HF New Members just stepped off the Titanic, right after our old house, that we'd lived in for so long, was burnt to the ground. If you seriously think none of us is going to want to talk about it, you're crazy.
Hip used the "Welcome To My Home" thang, but i've got to tell y'all ~ if ANYone invited me to their home, and then treated me like this? i'd spit on their floor, do an about-face, "shake the dust from my sandals" and get on down the road.
So, my question is this:
Do y'all REALLY want new members? 'Cuz if you DO? You've have got a WEIRD WAY of showing it...

i imagine some of them feel threatened. i mean a dozen or more of us come in all knowing eachother.
i imagine those on here with low self esteems,that question their own self worth are very threatened.

Me personally, I'm happy for new members.
However, I dont walk into other peoples homes, and procede to act the way I would in my own home. I would expect them to be mightily pissed if I proceeded to bitch about how the people are mean to me because I expect them to instantly adapt to the way I do things, and not show any respect for the way they do things. And I would expect them to be particularly pissed if all I did was bombard them with discussion of something they could give a fuck about.
Now, I've been fairly lenient about the HF folks and their ways, but I have run out of patience with them. You are at Loaded-Gun now, time for you to drop the HF shit and learn to live here, by our culture, not yours.
If you dont like it, you are free to find somewhere else to post. Good luck in finding a place that gives you the kind of freedom you get here, without some kind of aggressive welcoming.

it seems like since the initial threads died out its yal lthat keep bringing HF up over and over gain to me,much more than those that came from there.

Well I think you are a great example of someone who (IMO) is truly a good person with big heart, but is still ultimately an uberdork. I like you as a person, and I could probably sincerely like and respect some of the others too......but that doesn't negate the fact that you're all so exquisitely dorky, because obviously like-minded people congregate, and you all walked into another like-minded group who are all cynics and who all have varying degrees of an elitist outlook (whether they even realize it or not). So what the fuck is gonna happen? The clever-minded problem children that have perfected the craft of psychological projection can't help but nit-pick all the retarded things that gentle hearted dorks say and do with complete disregard or ignorance to the fact that many of the things that are the norm in world of hippie dorks, are things that the uppity cynics would consider a complete breach of their etiquette.
Mosh just explained how this problem is solved other than leaving the board, and to put it more simply, the old proverb "When in Rome, do as the Romans do" sums it up best.
So it all boils down to the fact that you're in fucking Rome.

It's just that i can't say i've EVER been invited over to someone's house, and then, whilst they sit in their big recliner, clicking through the p0rn channels, i'm told to stand somewhere out of the way, until i can get the lay of the land and the flow of the "household."
Usually, the folks are happy to see me, so i'm greeted, at the door.
The next thing is, i'm made to feel comfortable with general chit-chat/getting to know you convos.
A truly good host/ess will make sure you know where the bathroom is, show you the bar (if they don't want to go to the trouble of fixing their guests drinks), ASK you about the types of music you like,
and do their best to please their guests, sort of like they're actually happy to have them...

Maybe I've just been frequenting evil corners all my life but I've never in my life posted at a forum that welcomed me without giving me at least a few months of shit. Hell when there are no new members, the old members tend to beat up on each other. Anonymity breeds cruelty, but it's all in good fun.

What you are missing is that a lot of the angst causing posts have been merged into a single thread, where as the responses may not necessarily have been moved.
I said about adhering to culture. Yes there are rules here, like everywhere else, and yes we expect all users to follow them, but you know what, the rules are based in common sense. And for what its worth, you havent been one of the offending users, to my knowledge.
Let me reiterate for the last time, we do not (as a rule) amend or delete posts, except for personal information or illegal material. We do not ban users. You are free to post what you want, but dont bitch if you dont like the response.

Our original board that went up over a decade ago started out overflowing with vitrol, and no matter how "tight" some of us get, that will never go away as it is almost a part of the culture and tradition of the board.

Zooms, I havent had a problem with new folks coming here, I've had a problem with the RT/HF folks not taking any time to get to know us, but to expect us to get onside with them and their "problems". Naturally, the long timers dont care about their "problem", because our board works.
The fault is not yours, youre not responsible for their actions after they arrive here.
And you know what, Sakhi and Fyrenza have fitted in nicely here, because they got with the culture and didnt demand that we respect them without earning it.

This is not the first social experiment of its kind that I have been involved in. I mixed Loaded-Gun with Dalhraidia on several occasions. Everyone liked Cain but he wasn't interested in becoming a regular. Eitje had a great time and wanted on the mailing list but there was opposition from some D-Rads. Emp has been back several times and is always welcome at our fire, we'd like him to fight with the Concusare. We're not fucking Spartans.
So again, you either fit or you don't. The alternative is Devient where you can say and do what you want but you have to put up with TGK using shit as a masturbatory lubricant. And talking bout it. Daily.

Some of us would like to talk about it, 'cuz it's bizarre ~ WHY would the owner of a popular site TRY to get rid of LONG-TIME and/or PAYING members? (ANY site, not just HF, but that's our last experience, so.)

All of the "tools" ~ the smilies, the styles, colors, sizes ~ are there to make THIS form of communication (typing to each other) more like normal conversation, where some folks speak in monotones and others are more animated.

Truth is, we haven't acted the same as before. We like to vent about how HF was run because, for the most part, criticism of the management was not allowed there. Some of these people have five years' worth of venting to do.
I've never seen HHB unload on anybody until this week. Why? Because he probably would have been banned for it at the old place. It's good to know that he has it in him.
As for the former HF people, the best thing we can do with criticism is not respond to it at all. Just suck it up and go on. It comes with the territory here. So what?

OK So I think we've come to the general consensus here that this place ain't so bad, we don't actually make you pay dues by being our bitches, but we can be kinda harsh on each other. This is how it has always been. I told all of you that this place was a little different culture, we like to rip on each other and fantasize about skull-fucking each others' dead relatives. C'mon, it's the internet, most of us are adults and none of this is real. It's digital characters on a screen.

If you love your mother (and you should) and don't want other people discussing how they're going to violate every orifice on her body (and her toes if I get there in time) then this probably isn't the place for you. Fyrenza is exempt for an unspecified period from this activity).
If you happen to be a fan of any boy band, any modern pop music, the bands Journey, Kansas, Foreigner (most of these asshats weren't even around in 1977 so they don't get it) or Orchestral Manoeuvers in the Dark, you're going to get shit for it. There are two sides to "The Smiths" fence so that is neutral teritory. Suck it up, I have been for 10 years.
We discuss every subject you could imagine here. Eithje is a computer whiz as is Thrash, and HE is a damn fine guitarist and drummer. Mosh collects vintage and antique computers and video game consoles. Underclass and Bagman are financial wizards. Tricky is into fashion design. 13Chems is into a lot of everything. Lothar is in a professional band, Geek is the classical musical genius. Krapsna is a dad and also a computer whiz and a tattoo artist. And his woman could win just about any MILF contest but if she didn't win she'd give the other ladies a beatdown they'd never forget. And then make them eat all their vegetables. ChemCaterpillar is quite cerebral, well-read, is a terminal metalhead and for his age one of the brightest young minds I've ever had the pleasure of examining. And I'm old, out of work, love animals and I enjoy messing about with sailboats. And I recently started collecting antique and vintage outboard motors. We come from every walk of life every education level every age groups and almost every continent. And this paragraph is not even a fair representation of who we are here.
So in short, if you can't fit in, take a little shit just for fun, HAVE A THICK SKIN, be intellectual one post and maybe a total rejected retard the next, and HAVE A GOOD FUCKING TIME FUCKING AROUND IN A PLACE THAT ISN'T REALLY REAL...

I was a member of HF for a year and a half (with about 200 posts) until I starting posting in RT. I was still a noob. It took awhile for people to get to know me, and for me to get to know them and all that crap.. I didn't try to fit in. No-one really did. It just happened.
I'm not going to try to change my online persona on here, to fit in. But I'm not going to go around trying to "own" anything. I'm disappointed in the ways some people have reacted to new people being introduced but y'know... It's the way of the internet. :)

I liked them just fine. I know I'm not alone. I thought they were a bit overly sensitive, but apart from that I had no problems with them. They used a lot of smilies and they were mocked for that. Deservedly. They spoke a lot about HF and people from HF and HF politics and they were asked to cut that to a minimum. Threads were merged and stickied to accommodate them. Granted they were probably sick of our in-jokes and references to things they had no idea about, but we shouldn't forget that they were the newcomers. Internet forum protocol demands that newcomers be given a little bit of a hard time. If the paltry milquetoast hazing we gave them was enough to overwhelm them then it's probably best that they found their own forum. They're clearly a more gentle and effete people than we.

I've done what the majority of Mods asked and restricted them to modding their own forums.
I've merged multiple threads into a single thread for the HF guys to try and accomodate them and keep the long time users happy.
I've continually said everyone is welcome here.
I've responded to all critisisms of how this place is run in what I believe to be a fair manner.
I've posted in advance that I will treat posts by the new members with exactly the same contempt as I treat posts by the long time users.
I did not admonish either Dylan or Eric about their incident. I communicated with both privately, and executed what I believe to be a fair response.
I've repeatedly said that the only people responsible for their conduct here are themselves, and not anyone who invited new users here.
None of this is a secret.

I didnt have time to respond to this earlier. These are my views of how it played out. I'm betting there's at least another 100 different views of it.
1: I'm the only active admin here at the moment, so I take it as my responsibility to do the right thing.
2: They werent hassled by us about the same old shit at HF. They brought the hassle here, and were surprised that the response wasnt positive.
3: Zoomie worded them up about the kind of crowd here prior to their arrival. If they failed to heed what they were told, that's not our fault. (I couldnt help but use the R1 reference)
4: As far as I'm concerned, we accomodated those folks, and didnt treat them any worse than any other noob we've ever had. You have a different view, and that's fine.
5: The folks Dylan brought here have approached the board in a low key way. Being stoners, I'm not surprised.
6: Some of the newer folks have less liberal views than many of rest of us. This I have no problem with, and in fact encouraged them to post their views. At the same time, they should be able to hold their own in debates, without being forced to backtrack or resort to childish accusations of censorship. I just checked that out, and yeah they are claiming she kissed ass here??? That is sooooo untrue. The difference between her and them is she hopped in and integrated herself in the best way possible. By responding to threads and posts with actual answers. For example, if the thread was "what's your favorite food?" she posted her favorite food (and didn't use a bunch of smilies too, which is something we don't really do either). The others made themselves stick out like sore thumbs as newbies. She didn't.

I liked them just fine. I know I'm not alone. I thought they were a bit overly sensitive, but apart from that I had no problems with them. They used a lot of smilies and they were mocked for that. Deservedly. They spoke a lot about HF and people from HF and HF politics and they were asked to cut that to a minimum. Threads were merged and stickied to accommodate them. Granted they were probably sick of our in-jokes and references to things they had no idea about, but we shouldn't forget that they were the newcomers. Internet forum protocol demands that newcomers be given a little bit of a hard time. If the paltry milquetoast hazing we gave them was enough to overwhelm them then it's probably best that they found their own forum. They're clearly a more gentle and effete people than we.

We carried on and cried about it because that's where we were from, and it was a MAJOR shock to be shut out, for nothing. That was our Forum Home, the only Forums any of us had been to, and i guess we were just too n00bie about it all.
Most of those folks are cute, smart, sexy young peeps, who are used to being catered to, to a certain extent.
We didn't really "belong" here, but Zoomie is a truly kind, caring person, and offered a life-saver,
and we ALL latched onto it.
It didn't work out, and now they've started their own forum, with almost all of the old folks from HF, and they seem to be happy,
so it DID all work out for the best, all the way around.
Y'all got the best of 'em hooked, and they'll be here, rest assured.
