Title: Vintage books
Post by: Doormouse on September 10, 2009, 12:17:50 AM
I like old books. I've been searching for a particular SF one I remember from my childhood, and sadly all I can remember is the cover. I'm sure it's the rankest pulp, but I like pulp so there. Anyway, I was up till 4 last night searching for it after finding this website (http://www.coverbrowser.com/covers/vintage-books). I was kind of out of my mind from tiredness then, and to tell the truth I'm pretty drunk tonight, but as I scan through these covers, I can't help but thinking these books are perfect summaries of some of us L-G-ers.

Game: Go through the website I linked (here (http://www.coverbrowser.com/covers/vintage-books)). Find covers that sum up key people here. Post your results.

To kick stuff off, here are some of you. I'm doing kind of a hack job here, since I already went through the majority of it without taking notes, so I'm sure I missed the best ones, but here's what I've come up with so far. Also I'm missing some key L-G members obviously, so I'm calling on you assholes to improve on my suggestions.

Nice. I've done this too, although I prefer the Barnes & Noble 99 cent bin or scouring the thrift stores. I love thrift stores probably the best since they also sell records. I just picked up a sterling copy of George Shearing's Touch Me Softly for 25 cents on Wednesday. I was discussing the philosophy of this with a buddy today. If it weren't for the incredible amount of crap you have to wade through at the thriftstore LP bin, finding the sweet scores like this wouldn't be so much fun. As far as books go, I'm trying to form a collection of Weird Fiction. It's good stuff. I also have a load of SF, but the bulk of it is at my folks' place right now, sadly.

I just meant the opportunity to think someone might click on one of my links without looking to see what it was...  though I'm generally not above cheap shots.

Gotcha'ed me, too.  And, although some of it downright disgusts me, none of it really shocks me, anymore
