Terrible decision.
Seems to be the season for judges/refs to get things completely fucked up.
-
I missed it :(
I can't afford the PPVs.

There's this: http://fightmetric.com/fights/Machida-Shogun.html (http://fightmetric.com/fights/Machida-Shogun.html)
In my opinion Rua won 3, Machida won 1, and one round was a draw. That's pretty close to what most commentators online seem to have said, too. I'm not sure what fight the judges were watching. I generally hate to see fights go to the judges, because I think the athletic commissions seem to do horrible jobs picking judges competent to score MMA bouts.
The only way I see fights is going places where they're showing them & I can get in for free.

The neighbor I leech from can't afford the PPVs.
Same (italics added).

I can't afford always get the PPVs, but at least when my cable company offers them, they only about US$4
-
Huh?
-
I think it's 'a fixed for his situation' quote.
-
But I mean he can get PPV for $4???
Huh?
-
ah ok. Shows what I know about PPV.
carry on.
-
But I mean he can get PPV for $4???
Yep.
-
We're lucky to get a PPV for 10 times that.
Of course, a lot of other stuff is cheaper.
-

Ah, but that's because you're actually paying for the genuine PPV. My $4 goes to my cable company, who orders one $40 (or whatever) PPV and then redistributes it to the entire island at $4 a pop.
-
Ha ha!
Silly us. We expected an Island that thrives off Internet gambling to be on the up and up when it came to cable TV!
Duh.
-
PS: Here in the states the UFC PPVs are 50 or 55 dollars!
-
What do you get for that ? A whole night of fights...or just some special match up ?
-
Whatever fights are on the main card. It's usually 5 fights, I think. This last one had a pretty weak card and I'd be surprised if it sold well.
I would never consider paying that much to watch a fight, since there are a number of area bars where you can see it for free, a friend of a friend works for the cable company and hosts them all for free, or you can sometimes find them on the internet. And if it's really fantastic, I can rent the DVD months later and copy it.

Have any of you guys ever been to a fight in person? I'm not sure I'd actually want to go: the view is bound to be worse and I bet the crowd is a madhouse, but I'm curious how much that would cost.
-
Man, I'll bet going to the real thing has a horrible view like you said but it's gotta be like the best time ever... Like a wrestling show but the fights are real.
I gotta go to one of these some time.

They just had the first MMA fight in MD. It apparently went over pretty well & tickets started at $25. I'm probably going to try to go to the next one.
