Crushed. Totally crushed. My sister the reverend gave me absolute hell when she saw the cover of Holy Diver in my CD collection 20+ years ago. I will mourn until the black night skies of the new moon return...

Si, RJD is also rumored to have created the \m/. He said it was something his Italian grandmother did to ward off the evil eye and he started doing it on stage because he thought it looked cool. Some people say it was around before RJD, but if he didn't outright "create" it as a metal gesture he certainly is the one most responsible for popularizing it.

RJD had a sense of humor about the whole thing... Tenacious D's first album had this song "Dio" that said RJD was too old to rock and needed to pass the torch to Tenacious D. RJD thought it was great and asked them to be in his new video "Push".
