Title: The A-Team
Post by: FAH-Q on June 19, 2010, 04:31:09 AM
They fucking nailed it!

Lots of awesome references to the show and in-jokes, but it still felt up to date and not totally cheesy. It was obviously a little cheesy, but in a fun way - the movie didn't take itself too seriously but it also wasn't a piss-take, either. My sister (four years younger than me) didn't remember much about the show but still really enjoyed the film.

They cast it pretty much perfectly. Liam Neeson (who is fucking awesome, btw) played a more badass version of Hannibal, but managed to stay true to the character. Bradley Cooper pretty much is Faceman anyway, so he was perfect for the role. Even his real life name fits. I'd been a little worried about Rampage's B.A., cuz Mr. T is a pretty hard act to follow without either imitating him lamely or reinventing the character, but I was very pleasantly surprised at how good he was. And Sharlto Copley's Murdock was probably my favourite part of the movie. He got the annoying but appealing and crazy as fuck mixture just right.

The plot was fairly simple but entertaining, the special effects were solid, and while it was obviously pretty unrealistic there weren't many, "oh come the fuck on" moments, a la 'Wanted'.

It's not some groundbreaking cinematic experience, but if anyone was looking for that from The A-Team movie then I guess they got what they deserved.

Two thumbs up. I fully recommend it, and will be buying it on Blu-ray when it comes out (which is pretty much the highest compliment I can give a film, considering what they cost here).

Glad to hear it; I'll be seeing it soon enough then ....

Watched a few minutes last night at my sons house. Didn't seem anything special.

Wait, are you saying that a two dollar bootleg filmed from the inside of somebody's purse failed to capture the essence of a special effects laden roller coaster ride?

Egads man! E-gads.

Hahahaha seriously! I love it when a (_)_)===D post comes together.

Also I feel I should restate the fact that if you're looking for "something special" you'll probably be disappointed. It's a fucking A-Team movie, FFS!

Yeah, and while I love it, I watched the show this week when I was off early and thought "how cheesy" ....

I agree, they cast Murdoc down pretty well.

Nobody here except for Zoomie and I has any military experience. So a show such as this should resonate more with us, yet I'm not feeling it. Still the movie is better than the original series. One thing that pissed me off about the original series is that no matter how many thousands of rounds were fired no one was ever hit.

On either side.

A crack military group such as this when confronted should be leaving the bodies of dumbasses waist deep in their wake.

"No, They're trying to fly the tank." hahahahahahaha

As someone who actually worked in correctional custody for a short time I'd just like to say that there was and still is too much disbelief to be suspended. You never hear of soldiers escaping from military prison for a very good reason. There are standing shoot on sight orders. So fuck this concept.

I would be suprised if somebody who was in the civil war knew how to swim. (Alcatraz).

Frank Morris wasn't old enough to have taken part in the civil war.

I have no interest in seeing this.  Almost every movie I have been to in the last four months has sucked big black donkey balls.  I don't want to blow another $10 on a piece of crap.  I wait for movies to come out on video now.... a la.... "Hot Tub Time Machine."

I submit that the subsequent posts from Tru and Zoomie prove exactly how wrong this statement is.

Si got it. Since I worked in a military prison and Tru likely served time in one, just not interesting to us...
