I've seen it but I must have missed something, was it ever explained how the guy ended up with a high tech weapon in the first place?
It seemed like something of a rip off of High Plains Invaders. And it exhibited one the worst aspects of implausible aliens, Somewhat stupid monster like creatures with little physical ability to develop such nano technology in the first place. But at least they did sort of have hands. And what's up with the chemical rockets on their mother ship? Not very plausible. It was interesting but I would only give it 2 stars.

Hah. Wrong thread I edited... But yeah it was explained how he got the wrist bracelet. The doctor alien dropped it when he went to probe the main character. I think the film was successful in taking the wind out of the sails of any criticism by its name alone. How can you talk about plausibility concerns when you're dealing with a film called "Cowboys and Aliens"? Like how the aliens were on an intergalactic search for gold. The Harrison Ford character nails it when he says that it's completely and totally ridiculous. There's really nothing further the reviewer can say. The film asks you to accept that it's ridiculous and move on. I agree that it's lacking in outright comedy, but I think the idea was that by taking themselves totally seriously they're embracing the ethos of all B-film directors. The film will be a comedy goldmine in 2050. Also I was pretty freaking high when I saw it.

Haha wasn't that the motive of the aliens in Battlefield Earth?

I thought Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes was pretty good.

Wonderful, this thread is now a circle jerk about movies. Way to reduce the high-brow.

High-brow, hahahaha. Talk about planet of the apes.
