In my quarterly hiatus from tutoring college students in the ancient arts of grammatology, I have been working on some story ideas hoping they will flower, budding into a flesh-eating plant that devours children and annoying animals. Alas, my creative conveyor belt is low on juice, clunking along like a tired engine festered with rust and hardened grease. When I was in college, I turned to college crack (Adderall) to fill the neural gaps; I mean, fuck's sake, Phillip K. Dick used milder methamphetamines and look at the body of his work! The man exceeded Frederik Pohl and Ursula K. Le Guin in my opinion. But the drugs have run their course, I'm through with the jitters, teeth-grinding, and days of insomnia.
I've been working on one story that's currently over 20k words. I'm wary about giving details, but the fiction is based on the typical living dead scenario (cliche, I know), but I'm hoping to get this published piecemeal in a horror/sci-fi rag, assuming that the public is even interested anymore. My current influences for this are an amalgamation of giallo movies (i.e. Deodato, Fulci, Argento, D'Amato), American horror, Roger Corman, Romero (namely Dawn of the Dead), Max Brooks' Zombie Survival Guide, The Walking Dead (comic books and t.v. series), and the current economic climate in the U.S.
Any suggestions?

Emp would be your best bet for advice here ...

I know a guy who published a serialized book on his own: http://www.sosaythewaiters.com (http://www.sosaythewaiters.com)

I just watched Romero's "Land of the Dead", I thought I had seen every zombie movie but that one I guess I missed because I didn't remember ever watching it before.

That book looks like a fun read. I like the incorporation of Apps into the plot. I keep forgetting to use recent technology in my stories.
As far as being published, I have a couple of poems circulated and a short short coming out at the end of this month. My name's not out there enough to get a publisher's attention, so I might end up publishing this project myself.

Like Hungry Wives (aka - Season of the Witch), Knightriders, and Bruiser, Land of the Dead was a bit of a let down.

I wrote Fifty Shades of Grey.
Damn, people'll buy any old shit.

I find that when I try to do anything creative, it hasn't been working out lately. Any song I have tried to write for the band never pans out. However, when I get my revenge through song, like Tito Puente and Mr. Burns, they flow right out of me, and tend to be the ones that stay in the rotation.
So far, I have had my revenge on Andy Nelson's beef brisket, a grandmother who was ducking legal papers, my old company, and Maryland's unemployment service. Oh boy, did they get it.
