We can all kind of agree that the Eagles are the worst thing ever, right? As in the only redeeming thing about them was Joe Walsh?

Outside of Hotel California, I don't think I could identify an Eagles song so I don't find them particularly offensive.

U2 has no redeeming qualities, until I can celebrate Bono being dead.  Bono represents all that is awful about rich white liberals - paternalism, ignoring the voices of people he's trying to "help," self-aggrandizing, etc. coupled with the hypocritical nature of dodging taxes and excessive consumption.

As a band, they have managed to successfully grab just enough of what is popular at the moment to turn it into arena shit rock for 30 years.  They've been neither innovative nor interesting - just safe yuppie crap.

Agree with everything you just said, with the caveat that that statement applies to everything that has happened to U2 to a time just before Live Aid.

I had the sadistically humorous time of being caught in a bar filled with U2 fans when they were in town a few years ago. To hear some woman nearly climax on her feet when she said " I'm going to see Larry Mullen! Tonight! </squeal>" is a memory of the human condition I'll never forget

I just hate the fuckin' Eagles, man. Basically, they led to the trailblazing of safe yuppie crap that was a confused country/folk/rock thing that I just can't stand.

Had a bad time the other day where I had to wait for about 2 hours or so. Someone in that office had the kindness to play their greatest hits while I was trapped there.

At least Mojo Nixon agrees with me about this subject.

The only good thing the Eagles ever did (though completely unintentionally), was to jokingly contribute their name to the Eagles Of Death Metal:

Hughes stated that a friend was introducing Josh Homme to the death metal genre. When he played a song by the Polish band Vader and made a claim that the song was within the death metal genre, Homme then referred to Vader as "The Eagles of Death Metal".

The Eagles are old and irrelevant, I can't even be bothered hating them. U2 on the other hand is over rated pop garbage that inexplicably remains popular enough that I am forced to hear them in far too many social situations. By "too many" I mean any. Bono is a smug paternalistic jackass who spends more time deciding which causes are fashionable this year than he does actually helping any real people. The only good thing about the rest of the band is that they aren't Bono.

The Edge has a bit of talent, but fuck him in the ass for going along with being called "the Edge". You don't get to have pretensions of edginess when your band defines the mainstream.

when my ex cheated on me it was with a girl whos favorite band was the counting crows.

I remember being really pissed off about her taste in music.. like.. for some reason the thing that upset me the most wasn't that she was still in high school or a number of other things.. but that she listens to really shitty music.  ;D

I remember crying and being like HER FAVORITE BAND IS THE COUNTING FUCKING CROWS!
