I have had Android for a while now and there's a TON of cool shit out there for it ...
Let's start here and see if/what you guys like and use ...

... for example, I use WAZE all the time in my work to find my clients' locations

FlashKana is pretty helpful.
Like the name says, it's Hiragana and Katakana flash cards.

I'm getting a new phone, I need to decide what I want, that's reasonably priced. This will be the first time I'm getting a new phone because I want a new phone as opposed to because my phone is broken/lost/damaged in some way.
-
What are your choices?
-
-
I always do ...
I also use prepaid and love it!

I recently got a Nokia Lumia 720... pretty happy with it, and bring a Windows phone works well with my PC.
You can keep your iPhone and Android stuff.
-
My iPhone works well with the PC, but being an early 3g model the camera is pretty shitty so it doesn't really matter.
I just downloaded a server (for the PC) and matching app for my android tablet yesterday that will allow me to use the tablet as a wireless mouse/keyboard to control my PC. I haven't installed or tried it yet. It's called RemoteDroid.
Finally I may have a use for this thing.
Oh and Mosh guess what? I'm getting another Commodore +4 soon for free, not new but still in the original box. Can't wait to see if it works. I know where my old disk drives are for it but they may not work after all these years. And where the hell am I going to find 5.25" floppy disks?

This will make my third one. One I know is bad but I guess there are people restoring them pretty cheap, this one and the second one I bought haven't been tested yet. I learned basic on one of these.

Nice score Tru... check that the TED processor has enough viable heat sink goo on it. TED failure are the main cause of these machines going belly up, the machine is still functional as a computer except there's no visual output, so people assumed the machine had shit itself. The main cause of TED failure is overheating... those chips are very delicate, and pretty had to come by. Hungary seems to be the main source of cannibalised working TED processors.

I killed my first one with static electricity.

... did a balloon touch your tinfoil helmet?

Damn, that must have been it.
Wintertime, a group of people wearing sweaters, what could go wrong?

... for the record, I looked for a certain graphic to post here and couldn't find it

Yeah right!

... oh, suuuuure she/they didn't!

I use an iphone because android UI feels clunky by comparison.
Besides web, camera, iPod and mail the apps I use are Feedly, Kindle, MLB, Things, Google Maps, Wathernews, notepad and online banking.
I occasionally will download a game and play it obsessively, but I've been trying to replace games with books this year and I think that has worked.
I don't get into podcasts because I don't have a commute these days.

... still love Android, however, I LOVE fucking with Siri!

I've used Android for a few years and it never worked as advertized. Oh, and DON'T EVER GO CHEAP on an Android phone! I got one of those $1 Android phones and I didn't realize until I got it home that it only had 192megs total RAM, 128MB of which used by Android and 32MB tied up by undeleteable Google shit, leaving 32 MB OR LESS for apps you actually want to run. Three apps barely squeezes in 32 MB, and when it drops below 20MB free, Android gives a constant low memory alert.
NEVER. EVER. BUY A CHEAP ANDROID PHONE.
I've had a Nokia Lumia 928 since this summer and it's f--king BRILLIANT. I'm the first to say Windows 8 on PC sucks, and it sucks less on tablets, but on smartphones it's brilliant. It only does one annoying thing: once in a while the phone's screen stops responding, forcing me to force restart it. But it's only done it 3 times since July so all in all pretty good. Best phone I've ever had.
-
Yeah, WinBloze 8 was MADE FOR PHONES AND TABLETS (and touchscreen PC's/laptops) ....
... and I agree about Android, make sure you have a lot of memory
.... Android is Linux, so I root the devices and install "Swapper" to make a swap file; it cures the low memory issues in lower end phones

... what; it's good to swap when rooting!
