I've looked at a few of the ZTE models, they look pretty good.

They are ...
Amazing deals for the money ...
Only thing; a few models had good battery specs, however, shitty batteries ...

Other than that, I really love mine ...

This i5 my ex company sent me went dead after 4 days of being turned off.
Anyway whatever the problem with the new sim card, AT&T refused to help even though the new card was ordered specifically to have the same number as my old phone. I think I can trim my old sim down and it will work in the newer phone. But I still want something other than a fucking 6 year old iPhone.

I just don't want to lose the free corporate service from the old job.

I was told,
"Perhaps it’s best just to go to metropcs and move your number to an android phone"
I don't know what this entails but I assume the same right to use the number as I have now, but according to AT&T I'm not on the corporate account so have no rights to the number, apparently. So when I try to switch it over I expect to get the same shit from any port. Using a newer sim card adds a lot to your phone, if I can get the old one to work it will still be an old one.

You might need permission in writing to port it out ...
