It works mostly with 4k, however, it's worth a try either way with any other version ....

Is a "Fire Stick" a popular item? I'm really not at all familiar with it.

It's gained popularity over the past couple years ...
It's basically a very compact Android TV stick ...

if you set them up right, they're actually pretty cool, I a jail broke mine so I can do a lot of shit with it ... But I can do a lot of shit with my Android TV box too ...

I used to have a USB TV dongle that I used with my laptop, that was a long time ago. (before I gave up on TV) Sort of an ancient predecessor of the Fire Stick I would imagine.

I thought those did OTA TV?
(And a couple were capable of being a "DVR" if hooked up properly) ...
