So I got this Cal 25 with the idea that I would refit it to cruise, like to Antigua and Naples and stuff. It was just the hull and the rigging. I finished gutting it and now, since I'm moving to Appalachia, it's gotta go. Some work and a couple hundred in fiberglass work and you could sail it anywhere in the world if you have the balls. Can't beat the price, it's FREE! Just come get it.

And this is what she looks like under full sail:

Appalachia?
-
Yeah man, what's up with moving to appalachia?
And what part?
-
Isnt Aaron always moving to W Virginia?
Would that boat make to to Australia? Say Lakes Entrance or Wilsons Prom?
-
a boat would be sweet. we could tie it up in Tokyo bay
-
Is that boat next to it called "Cojones"?
-
hahaha why am I not surprised that you see the word cajones where it may or may not be?
Nick, we could make it a new Tokyo landmark and tourist attaction!
-
Yes, well, since I'm losing my house I kinda have to move to WV this year. Not having a full time job for 6 months kinda fucks up your plans.
This model has been modified for bluewater cruising and several have circumnavigated the globe. Here's how Dave Martin explains his modifications.

You can read hundreds of his and his wife's log entries there. They left The Bahamas in a Cal 25 and didn't stop sailing for several years. Had three kids on the way. Nice story.
-
that sucks about your house, hope things turn out ok

Well now I'm faced with a choice of two: Drag it out of the water with Lucille and cut it up and put it in a landfill (not very environmentally friendly) or tow it out to deep water in the Chesapeake and take a pickax to it and send it to Davey Jones locker (also not very environmentally friendly, and if I get caught it's a $5000 fine and six months in jail).
This certainly sucks.
-
Just capsize the bitch and leave it.
-

Sure, dumbass.
-
Could you donate it someplace and make them take care of it?
I googled this: http://www.boatswithcauses.org/donate-sailboat.htm (http://www.boatswithcauses.org/donate-sailboat.htm) There have to be others.
-
Can you store it somewhere? My dad has a boat he has had stored in his side garage for like 5 years. I don't even know why he still has it he never puts it in the water. He probably gave up after my dip shit stepbrother ruined three motor props in one summer.
-
Emp, it's just a bare gutted hull. It's good for NOTHING except naval target practice.
Lib: it's 25 feet long and 9 feet tall. I already have an RV that size in my driveway and someone gave me another 15' racing boat this morning very similar to my Mutineer that I keep at the cottage. So I can race Wed nights and pleasure sail weekends. After I cut this behemoth up and haul it to the landfill, which I feel like a shitheel for doing.
-
Maybe they have a use for it; ask first ...
-
I gave it one more try on Craigslist, trying to give it away. I got 15 lookyloos coming out of the woodwork, telling me they want it, but then I never hear from them again.
-
Donate it; it's a tax write-off ...
-
OK, if I donate it to Boat Angel, I have to hold onto it until they sell it. Can't do that. It's less than worthless, it will cost money to get rid of it.

man I wish I could take advantage of this offer. I have 1000 miles of waterways here in the delta.
-
Same here between the rivers and the beaches ...
-
Dave will take it.
He's thinking of starting a TSi Navy anyway, based on the Sea Org of Scientology.
-
I told you, I have a boat ...
Wait, I can start my own navy?
-
That POS has been gone for 3 weeks. At least. No more freebies.

That will go well until you try to arm the second one.
