Title: Jeremy Clarkson The Good The Bad and The Ugly
Post by: mosh on May 01, 2009, 09:23:16 AM
I like this film... mostly because I like Jeremy Clarkson, but I like cars too.
You guys might not like it so much, because he rubbishes America, a lot. But it's worth a look...
Jeremy Clarkson's the good the bad and the ugly (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8098450185420129625)

Jeremy Clarkson is funny, I used to watch Top Gear regularly - it's where I found out about the Koenigsegg but he's annoying. The good thing about him on TG is that I can watch it with 0 interest in cars and still enjoy it...

I don't know how to embed but here's a funny sketch dedicated to him.

Haha that is funny. Jeremy is pretty cool. I love cars man. I saw a couple of beautiful 09 Nissan GTR-s, and a handful of older Skylines, while on the bus ride from Narita to Shinjuku. So nice to see the new GT-R in it's homeland. Jesus it's dazzling in beauty, form and function.

In Kamakura, we happened past one that was parked and I made my mom and her husband wait while I got a few shots. I probably had a boner the entire time I was taking photos.

Speaking of cars, my RX-8 needs a healthy new engine SOON. It's rocking badly when it gets warmed up. That means the compression is shot... again. This will be the 4th rotary, at 65,000 miles. I wrote the president of Mazda North American operations last time complaining, and got a phone call from his "secretary". Blah blah blah.

Then all RX-8 owners (2004 - 2008) received DVDs (instructional on how to take care of your RX-8) and Mazda extended the factory warranty by years. My 2004 model, is now under warrantly until 2011. They did that shit before they got a class-action lawsuit filed on them.

that's registered in Osaka

Kamakura is one of the wealthiest spots in Japan, hence that car registered in Osaka is not out of place

What fuckoid planet are you from?

Can we say instant 30% deprecation the moment you drive it off the lot? Unless it's some classic car that is super sought after.

Kyle, when the new mini came out, peole were selling them at a profit one year after launch. Modern cars can be sought after. The new Nissan GTR is another example. In fact nearly every new car with a wait list, and theres alot of generic cars with wait lists (audi,VW,Merc and I'm including base models here), can be sold for near sale price up to 18 months after launch.

of course, you would know this if you liked cars. So im assuming you dont like cars.

or knows nothing about money
Cars are like houses are like stamps are like coins are like art. Study them and buy smart, and you'll make (or at least not lose) money.

I couldn't give two shits about cars. I see them as a total expense and am eternally grateful that I live in a society where you don't need a car.

I like the public transport I have here. 4 different Bus routes every 15 mins just 100 meters from my door, all heading where I want to go. The advantage of CBD living. If we could sort things the the outer suburbs and regional zones ( at least in SEQ ) were included, it would be perfect. There will never be a bullet train to Alice though. In fact we have only just recently fully interconnected the east coast rail network to move freight onto a seprate line.

I take that back, I just saw the new uber-expensive Aston Martin (http://thenewv8vantage.astonmartin.com/?v=c1) and I like cars.

The last 2 models of Aston have been nice. But like topgear say, Buy the jag version and save ya cash.

well, the theory is to buy it with other people's cash but one of these would do adequately

Better off with a Jag. They cheaper, look just as good, and use most of the same running gear. And because they use Ford Europe engineering, they work.

That said, a friend of mine in England says you can buy a 2 year old DB9 for 1/3 of its original price these days. Just about my price range. Just gotta figure out how much to get it here, and none of that whacky steering conversion or compliancing.

of course, you would know this if you liked cars. So im assuming you dont like cars.

He bought a car with a Wankel engine. He knows nothing about cars.

Except for their electrical systems, which Jag has never ever been able to get working well.

I love the wankel concept. I also love the shape of a early 70's celica.

The Merc C class is dead. The CLK is going to be built off the E class platform. I guess having so many full sized sedan platforms was hurting them.

One day the car makers will figure out they cant make a SUV-People movers better/cheaper than Subaru and just give the fuck up.

Key word in bold, there.

Also, I LOVE the shape of the ST205 Celica GT4s.

Word was used on purpose. Them wankel units, when in a race team enviro, do fucking hammer. It's a shithouse engine for anybody without a full time mech.

I loved my 2001 Toyota Celica, but I had to trade it in.
My 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI is luxurious by comparison, but I'm never happy to see it when I'm walking towards it in a parking lot.

Shit I forgot. That's why we all drive them. Thanks Si! :)

Pick up my Calais tomorrow. I'm so looking forward to this, but its a shame the Berlina Moshmobile has to go.

Breaking up with your Berlina to start seeing a Calais is nothing to lament.

If I could afford it, I'd have kept both, and done a full restoration on the Berlina (mechanicals, body and interior are excellent)...
