Right now I'm just using modeling software to do building models and energy analysis.

I'm reviewing probability and statistics on my own so I can take the first actuarial exam soon.

It is now an "official thread" and not a "public PM" ...

Fuck you I'm being social. Next time you want to micro-manage, first go move all your posts about your guitar-playing wizardry into a PM to yourself.

After an explanation from a math major the other week, I'm pretty much asking the same thing ...

Math has never gotten me laid.

Physics and engineering have also never gotten me laid.

I think the only thing that ever gets me laid is pure dumb luck.

Women just aren't into technical stuff. A couple of years ago I read an article about how educators were trying to find ways to fix the lack of women in fields like engineering. What they found out is the reason few women are in engineering isn't because of lack of opprotunity or discrimination, it's because they don't WANT to be engineers. Woah, mind blowing stuff!

The conclusion was that men like to work with things, women like to work with people. Thus, when it comes to higher education men choose engineering and hard sciences, women choose law and medicine. There's nothing wrong with doing the things you were wired to do.

Fair enough. My mother did she did a degree in Chem, I think.

The point isn't who can or can't do what, it's that most women aren't interested in math, physics, and engineering in and of themselves.

Exactly. Just today I sewed a button back onto my shorts. Was I wired to do so? Not at all. Stoned/tipsy? Sure.
