Title: Sasha ....
Post by: Thrash on July 03, 2009, 06:57:30 AM
I originally asked this in CT, however, after posting, I thought this is something to ask on its own ...
I'll just quote it directly ...

Quote
I still have a serious question though, Sasha ...
I know it was asked in the LAST incarnation of LG, but I think it was gone before answered ...
... remember, this is a serious question

How do you handle the herpes thing?
Do you tell people, like, all people?
And what happens when you do?
And exactly HOW is it brought up with a "hot" guy (or girl) you're about to hook up with?
Does it ruin some chances?
Do some just not care?

Just things I've wondered, and I'm not picking on you, I'm seriously just asking ...
... I've just always wondered since you seem to get laid a lot, and how it actually affects it

Thanks in advance, I know it's a tough topic, and I promise you, I'm asking out of curiousity ...

Just read this..... I have been really busy.

How do you handle the herpes thing?   I just deal with it.  I don't really think about it anymore since I haven't had an outbreak since 2006.
Do you tell people, like, all people?  I don't tell people right off that I do.  I have sex with a condom and no I do not have oral sex before I tell them.
And what happens when you do? When I tell them, 9 times out of 10 the person looks at me and says, "why didn't you say anything? I have it too.."
And exactly HOW is it brought up with a "hot" guy (or girl) you're about to hook up with?  I bring it up usually after the third date.  I don't tell them when we are drunk, usually while watching a movie or something low key.
Does it ruin some chances?  Of course
Do some just not care?  Yes, most don't care.  The lame thing about the internet is that it skews some things.  If you google herpes and look at pictures, those are extreme cases.  I have never had an outbreak where there are visible sores on the outside.  I have had it nine years.  That means that I will have an outbreak every few years at this point.

Did I answer your questions?  Honestly, think about it.  If there are commercials for herpes meds, then A LOT of people have it.  You have probably had sex with a bunch of people who have it.  It is unfortunate that there is such a stigma attached to it.

I waited for Sasha to answer before I posted. I've dated a few women who had it and yes, we had sex. I use protection, and I ask the person to tell me when they believe their virus is active. It's no big deal at all. It's like dating someone with blue eyes. So?

My friends have seemed to set up home without either procreating or dying off.  We coexist fairly well, but I've yet to run into the issue of having to tell someone.

It's interesting, and I know that there's control for these things, however, I just had questions, and I figured that I'd ask ...
I appreciate your taking the time to give me that insight into a very personal matter ...

Both of you ...
