Other than these boards of course!
I need some new tunes. I listen to just about anything, and chances are if you like it I probably do too, since half the shit I listened to in the last decade was from suggestions here.

New music blows.

The mp3s are listed in the artists profile. " All Featured Artists " mp3s need a reg to dl. The others do not. I also think theres some other suggestions on the "free and legal downloads" thread. but umm, i think they were just radio streaming.

I go to shows. A lot of shows.
The other thing I do is look at the listings even when I'm not going to go and listen to the samples people put up on their myspace pages. You hear a ton of bands that way, some good and some bad, but lots of local stuff you wouldn't hear any other way. You also eventually get used to the styles of music particular venues book, so you can find new music of a specific style.
Some Baltimore area venues:

Not suggesting you go out in Baltimore, since it would make more sense for you to go out to places in DC distance-wise. I just only know 3 places in the DC area, so these are just some places you can look at show listings to listen to different bands.

What's with this "new music" tomfoolery! Back in my day we had three bands, Ye Tumbling Boulders, Ye Boll Weavils, and Plumbum Dirigible and that was all we needed!
"I want new music!" "I want lead free paint!" "I want disease free drinking water!" You youngsters today expect too much!

New tunes: I either ask someone on the metal-archives forums for suggestions (that's how I learned about Elder!), or I listen to last.fm radio of my favorite bands to see who pops up (that's how I learned about Satanic Warmaster!).
-
Satanic Warmaster? That's an epic band name

Dead Lepers.

go to shows.
and-- believe it or not, the ARC channel on comcast on demand has directed me to some interesting bands i'd either never heard of, or just never looked into before because i hear about a band and go "oh neat! i gotta remember to download some of their stuff!" and then forget their name a minute later.

Youtube, people I know, music channels, various websites but really for the most part I really don't do anything. Too much effort.
The 3 websites I know of are:

http://www.unsigned.com/ (http://www.unsigned.com/)
