In AIT I never wanted to help the other students, it was a competition to me.
The one aspect of schooling I had never considered before then.
Maybe that's why I did so poorly in grade school, ect.
Once joining the Mil, a kill or be killed mentality took over.
I graduated Distinguished Graduate in a class of 36 and the honor included a promotion to SP/4. The guy ahead of me (the honor graduate) cheated. I didn't care at the time.
But later in College I found that it isn't really a competition, it's all about understanding the information.
And, I found that once "I" understood the information, I could simplify and tailor it for others to understand.
I fucked off a few classes right after separation so my global GPA isn't great, but I made them up in spades a few years later. At least I learned the method for getting good test scores regardless of their actual value and regardless of my sobriety.
I still can't see myself as a teacher.
But, if you are ever in a classroom with me you would no doubt find my assistance useful.
Or you might hate me and consider me a moron, it's a toss up really between the two.
That's how everyone sees me, no middle ground, either a moron or a genius.
