Leonard's mom is one of the most horrible mothers on sitcom television, period. She is uncaring, totally self-centered, and has intentionally emotionally crippled her son.

The role is brilliantly played, but the character is utterly reprehensible.

I suspect the next season will be the last, and will end with Leonard and Penny getting hitched.
