This is why I have all sorts of guitar modelers, pedals, effects kits, etc ....
I can make any sound I want ...

Believe it or not, I find that for pure, compressed, clean, yet nasty distortion, I use a $15 pedal (about $25 now) I picked up just to fit in a tight travel case to always have a few effects with me at all times in my car ....

It's fucking awesome ....
And the sound is VERY pliable ...

Oh, I like the way that looks and sounds. I might have to get one for that price point.

Do you think there's still value in the established name pedals? I had a couple of BOSS effects pedals back when I tried to learn the guitar the first time. They're so expensive compared to a lot of effects on the market now. Are people just buying them for nostalgia at this point, or do they actually sound better?

Re: The Complete Line 6 Pedal Compatibility FAQ Reply #4 on: March 19, 2023, 11:20:43 PM
Look up Behringer pedals ....
They are copies of the BOSS and DIGITECH pedals, for a fraction of the cost ...

I got a few of them as a "known tester" of musical merch (free, for evaluation), and I think they are excellent for the cost ...
There's even ones that mimics the Boss Heavy Metal and Digitech Metal Machine pedals .....
(Two of the best metal pedals ever; one of the only 2 I've ever known to actually see 'big act' metal bands use onstage live) ...

Give 'em a look ...
For the cost they are well worth it ...
(I'm talking $30 or less per pedal; set up a board array with 'em for $100 or less) ...

As is the one I mentioned above ....
Low cost, great sound; all of the ones I've talked about the last few posts ...

I can get a couple of specifics, if you'd like ...

For the record, the pedals listed in the subject of this post are for control pedals of modelling amps ....
The pedals themselves aren't effect pedals; they control the effects on modelling amps ...

We can move anywhere pedal-wise within the thread though .....
haha ....

Re: The Complete Line 6 Pedal Compatibility FAQ Reply #5 on: March 20, 2023, 03:45:17 PM
So the modeling amp (and associated pedal) lets you play with the sound of the amp itself and switch between different channels that more or less emulate a different amp/amp setup?

Then your effects pedals plug in upstream of that so you can use any effects pedals you want with whichever channel you happen to be on? Or do you forgo the effects pedals entirely and just program those in too?

Re: The Complete Line 6 Pedal Compatibility FAQ Reply #6 on: March 20, 2023, 10:33:53 PM
If I decide to use external pedals, yes ....

Look up Line 6 Spider II (2) ....
You'll see what I'm talking about ....

It's a great amp with amp modelling and tons of VERY nice effects; and the INSANE distortion is amazeballs ...
I have one of those .... I also have separate pedals and effects for hooking straight to PA systems themselves ...

I have a lot of setups, both amp and pa ....
I have a lot of options on-hand. and as a result for whatever applies to whatever I'm applying it to ...

Ah, so a different rig for all sorts of different circumstances.

If you were just going to record weird music for yourself and never perform for anyone, which way would you go?

Re: The Complete Line 6 Pedal Compatibility FAQ Reply #8 on: March 23, 2023, 06:21:56 PM
I think you either need to go with a Mooer PE100 (100's of effects/chains for about $70) ....
OR
A Line6 Spider series of amp (can make just about any sound, model, or effect, and AIO) ...

Re: The Complete Line 6 Pedal Compatibility FAQ Reply #9 on: March 24, 2023, 10:15:26 AM
I bought the Mooer for now; $70 isn't bad at all and I was teetering on the edge of an effects pedal obsession.

I will probably look at the amp in the future, though. The Orange Crush Mini I'm playing with now is fine for putting on my desk and practicing chords, scales, and riffs, but I don't think I'll be satisfied with such a small, quiet amp forever.

Re: The Complete Line 6 Pedal Compatibility FAQ Reply #10 on: March 24, 2023, 06:52:19 PM
You'll LOVE the Mooer ...
I think it's one of the best $70 ANY guitarist (beginner or pro) could ever buy ...

It's versatile, easy to use, and sounds great ....
It also is a good way to learn tweaking effects ...

I love it, personally ...

One additional good thing about it ...
It comes with an actual power cord, or runs off of batteries ...

Oh, you can also input an MP3 player and jam along real-time ...
Honestly, the list of pro's for it go on a bit "Mooer" (haha) ...

I'm just trying really basic things at the moment - using the steady rock drum beat and moving around with power chords and rhythms. I'll probably be weeks playing with the presets before I even try to mess with things on my own.

Re: The Complete Line 6 Pedal Compatibility FAQ Reply #13 on: March 29, 2023, 10:44:50 PM
Maybe I'll record a short video for you of the various, random presets and a little improvised jam to them (and a couple of the beats) ....
It's a lot of fun, actually ...
