There have been three dogs found bound, muzzled, and drowned in a canal in our area. It just makes me think we have a serial killer ramping up for a big splash of a production.

Were they pit bulls? Because I have to admit I think all pit bull's should be put to death.

Maybe the local cats just decided it was time for some ethnic cleansing.

First off, MY PitBull FAR from deserves to be "put to death" ...

Second, it's called "escalation", and they WILL "evolve" into to killing humans ...

There are a lot of bad pit bulls in Baltimore & the surrounding counties.  I take that more as representative of the human population here, though.

And Tru, if you've seen "few that were good pets, damn few", then that implies that you've seen at least one that was a good pet. Should that dog be put down based on the sins of the bad ones?

No I was exaggerating, but there are so many horror stories and personal experiences that cause me to define them as bad options.

I don't disagree fully, and I'd never seek out a pit bull (or any other breed, for that matter, but I would be a little more wary of any breed known for its ferocity). My dad almost lost an achilles tendon to a pit bull, and I know lots of other people who've had bad run-ins with them. But like Emp said, any dog is more a reflection of its human handling than its genes. There are exceptions to this rule, there are good dogs that just snap, seemingly for no reason, but generally this holds true.

One lone pit on it's own is bad enough, but you put two or three together and they form that pack mentality, any regular dog may bite but then it's usually over. With pits once they switch to attack mode a couple of them can easily kill a person in a heartbeat. There have been so many stories of pampered pits suddenly turning on their masters out of the blue for no reason and because their jaws are so strong you can't pry them apart once they grab you, you would need a hydraulic jack.

I beat the fuck out of one with a piece of 4x4 once that was attacking one of my smaller dogs(*) and it simply would not let go, I had to shoot the motherfucker.

(*) A lot of people think I hate dogs because I go after them every time they come in my yard fucking with the cats and raise hell with their owners. But nothing could be farther from the truth. I grew up with dogs and had dogs of my own for a long time. But my yard here isn't really big enough to provide a proper environment so I started pandering to the feral feline population.

2000's - Pit Bulls
1990's - Rottweilers
1980's - Dobermans
1970's - ...... etc

No suspects or any of the sort yet, but the area it is in is a quiet fishing destination. Perfect environment with a refreshed supply of transients every weekend.

It seems Georgetown County Sheriff Deputies arrested a suspect in the serial dog torture killings and attempted killing of another.

If this is the correct person, I hope they never let him out from under the jail.
