1. That's fucking hilarious!
2. I like Henry Rollins. He's definitely kind of a douche, but I like him anyway.
3. I also like a lot of techno (or if not techno, at least electronic music), as well as liking NIN a whole lot (HR also supposedly hates NIN)
4. ...which makes it seem kinda weird that he'd be a Manson fanboy, no?
5. But anyway I never saw that show... maybe I'm glad I never did.
Yeah. I was really surprised by the fanboy act. It was ok with some of the guests, like Gore Vidal. I like Gore Vidal's books a lot, so I could see being excited to interview him.
Manson's music is boring and his shock act is derivative of better performers. That interview was pretty terrible, with HR throwing out compliments and looking like he was in love while Manson sat there completely disinterested and probably high as shit on something.
It was also pretty bad to see him gush over Ben Stiller, but not really surprising since they both hit their peak in the mid-early 90s. He's put out a lot of dreadful movies, though. I basically assume that any movie starring Ben Stiller is going to be terrible and am pleasantly surprised when they're watchable.
Those two interviews sprung to mind, but he was a fanboy with everyone that came on the show. He did often have really good musical guests, though, so it was worth Tivoing the show while it was on.
Anyway, I was fine with a the curmudgeon, prickish, sometimes self-righteous persona. It's just the spreading your ass cheeks wide and fawning all over any pop culture figure willing to grace you with their presence I found disgusting.
