Electronic gadgetry on: September 06, 2009, 05:03:46 AM
It's no secret that I love all things electronics and gadgets. It's like crack to me. I check Gizmodo and Engadget multiple times, daily. Is there anybody else here who enjoys gadgetry?

If so, what sort of portable electronics/gadgets do you have/want?

Currently I have:

Apple iPod Touch 16GB 2nd Gen w/ Tunestick FM transmitter
Korg Kaossillator KO-1
Kodak Zi8 Pocket video camera
Asus Eee PC 1000HE Netbook
Blackberry Bold

Want:

Korg KP3 KAOSS Pad Dynamic Effect/Sampler
H4 pocket size digital audio recorder (or Belkin GoStudio)

I have an ASUS Eee. It stays in the truck, I use if for business, posting here on the road and as a GPS. But mine runs XP.

I also have several Garmins. I was really in to Global Positioning for a while when I was hiking. Mobiles are cool, handhelds better.

I have been purging electronics from my life as much as I possibly can.

I have a Dell Mini 9 on which I run Ubuntu.  I use it to mess around on the internet mostly.  I've also been using it to download pdfs of classics from Google, since I'm trying to work my way through reading this entire list: http://www.bartleby.com/hc/  Surprisingly, I have had a difficult time finding many of these books at the local universities or public libraries.

Re: Electronic gadgetry Reply #7 on: September 07, 2009, 12:06:42 AM
My sociology professor gave us that list.  I have read quite a few on it.  Has it made me smarter? No.  Did it entertain me?  Yes.

I've spent my life doing too much science.  I want to study other things now, so I figured reading everything on that list I haven't yet was a good place to start.

Re: Electronic gadgetry Reply #9 on: September 07, 2009, 01:48:48 AM
I cave a cell-phone, a Nintendo DS and an iPod I hardly used. I hate gadgets generally and just bought the Nintendo to kill time on trains when I don't have any books.
Loaded-Gun.com - I don't know what the hell they are talking about or why they are even there. They don't make serious points and they don't joke, but they still manage to make a lot of posts somehow.

I have a cell phone and a couple of cameras, if those count as "gadgetry". Had an iPod, no idea where that's gone. Oh and I wear a watch.

I have a cellphone, a camera, and a laptop. My watch is mechanical.

PS - I'd buy that DS off you if and when you get sick of it, Nick.

I have an iPod too but I rarely use it.  I tried to use it when I ran but it annoyed me.

Re: Electronic gadgetry Reply #13 on: September 08, 2009, 02:08:37 AM
The DS and I are having a break. I buy a game = I do nothing else until I finish it. This is bad

I have a DS and a few games I keep meaning to put up on craigslist.  It's just been sitting in my closet for the past 2 years.

Does anyone else think that Intel commercial featuring Ajay Bhatt is one of the best things on TV? I can't get over how sweet it is.

Lucas - put all other projects on hold until you have completed one of these

Added: (1) 32gb Apple iPad. Pre-ordered that bitch and it IS everything I thought it was going to be. It's phenomenal. Take the amazing iPhone OS and blow it up to a larger screen, and it's such a deeper and more satisfying experience and it adds so much depth and interactivity to everything.

I just want my laptop back. It took over 2 weeks but i finally got my dad to call the insurance company.

But without it i cant do any practice papers or browse online properly and it pisses me off. I couldve found out the problem and replaced that bit/ replaced the whole thing by now.
