It's up on Steam for $15.  I bought it because that's cheap as hell.  Played it with 3 buddies tonight, good times.

I know there's some other people here who play it because I've heard it mentioned a few times.  Anyone still play?
Pour the wine, hold the grind, quarter to nine, let's go.

afraid not.  but it's intense!
Like yours.  Only different.

I palyed the crap out of it on Xbox. Then I sold everything I owned that was worth money, except my car and my phone. But yes, rediculously fantastic game. One of the best.
I have an American dream, but mine involves Black Masks and Gasoline..

Nice. I love people like you. I'm a huge proponent of the second-hand market.

Re: Left4Dead Reply #4 on: October 02, 2009, 03:21:51 PM
i've never played, but i watch my boyfriend play often. last night he was all psyched, and said they put out a few new maps, and apparently L4D 2 is coming out in november. i thoroughly enjoy watching him play, because 1. i love zombie movies and 2. i like the dynamic between the civilians and the special infected characters with their weird abilities.

the screams of the attacking zombie horde float around the edges of my nightmares.

katie, you might just be the best girlfriend girl ever made.

thank you!

Re: Left4Dead Reply #8 on: October 03, 2009, 01:10:41 PM
I almost posted the same thing earlier, but I think good-looking girls who actually play the games are even a small bit better.
You're certainly well into the cool realm of girlfriendhood, though.
Of course good-looking girl gamers are practically a myth. I've only ever met one in my life.

Re: Left4Dead Reply #9 on: October 03, 2009, 02:48:58 PM
I had one before but we were just fuck buddies. She thought romantic relationships were for pussies.

Disagree.

There needs to be some things that each person really enjoys doing on their own.  I can't imagine a life where everything I did outside of work involved the same person.
Like yours.  Only different.

Re: Left4Dead Reply #11 on: October 04, 2009, 12:21:10 PM
Perhaps you're right. I'm just naturally mistrustful of people who claim to like to just watch. If that's actually true then yeah that's just as cool as if you play the games. More often than not, though, I've had girls I was dating tell me they endorsed my game-playing but then wait till the initial infatuation wears off and it becomes a sore-spot.
Her: "How about instead of playing games we went out and did something I want to do like shopping, or karaoke, or anything else?"
I think a girl gamer would be better able to appreciate that you've finally come to the end of a grueling 2-week in-game campaign, and karaoke is the last thing in the world you want to do right now.

Probably playing the games with/against each other rather than each of you playing unrelated solo games would take its toll though. I'd prefer a chick who plays games to the point where I know she appreciates it, and I'd prefer it if she played another genre of game than I. If I could get some sort of assurance that she really appreciates it without her playing then that would be fine.

She doesn't give a shit about the game, just wants to hang out with you.

I'm with Luke on this. My wife does music, I do sports.

You need to make time for your partner, spending two weeks locked into some game probably isn't the path to a long and happy relationship.

An X and I finished the first Halo together in 8 hours. About 2 of those hours was spent on the stupid last stage car thingy...that fucking stupid jump.

She was not a gamer but liked a co-op game every now and then. Games like Smash Bros and stuff was better...Mario Cart also got the nod.

OK, whatever.
I agree it's cool if your significant other likes to hang out with you. I was only trying to say that if your S.O. actually participates (even if only occasionally) in things similar to those that you like to do then there's a better chance she'll be understanding if you ever want to do that thing to the exclusion of other things later down the road. I don't think it would be cool if your S.O. did exactly what you do all the time either.

Anyway I certainly wasn't trying to imply that Katie had anything she needed to improve upon. It sounds like she treats her fellah quite well.

I am in sore need of both, actually.

Re: Left4Dead Reply #17 on: October 05, 2009, 02:49:52 PM
Co-op Madden is awesome. I do offense, she does defense. Means whenever one of us is playing, the other is free to roll joints, get fresh drinks, etc.

Re: Left4Dead Reply #19 on: October 05, 2009, 07:43:23 PM
When I play Madden on co-op I like to just play Fullback on offense and Safety on defense and run around on both ends of the field railroading people.

When I play NHL 2Kwhatever I end up doing the exact same thing only with defense men.

In fact I would say my strategy when playing both games is pretty much identical.

You're thinking of something different to what I was talking about.

NHL co-op the way you're talking about it is kickass, though. One-timers galore!

Re: Left4Dead Reply #21 on: October 05, 2009, 10:35:36 PM
There is something about the modern sports game engines that I just dont like.

First they made everything harder, forcing you to do weird ass buttom combos. Then the figured out they needed to sell to people who havent skilled up thru all the different versions and tried to simplify the interface, and fucked it up.

I wish they would start from scratch. Untill then i will use use and emulator and play the old school.

The last game I was a obsessed with was Diablo 2, then I started having sex and I haven't played games online ever since.

Re: Left4Dead Reply #23 on: October 06, 2009, 02:09:33 AM
word on Diablo 2. Diablo 3 comes out soon, I hope I can get my wife pregnant before then

"Update: A new rumor puts the Diablo 3 release date on 09-09-09!"

You have three days, here's to hoping that she's ovulating.

Re: Left4Dead Reply #25 on: October 06, 2009, 01:27:08 PM
If I could get some sort of assurance that she really appreciates it without her playing then that would be fine.

i keep up on when the new maps and games are coming out, and say he's playing in the bedroom while i'm flipping through a magazine: i usually put down the zine and pay more attention to the game. when he's through he'll go "did you see when i was the smoker and got that guy from the roof??!" and i can say "yes, you were awesome! how'd you know that rooftop was there? you're amazing!". he always looks thrilled when i ask how his tournaments go, and he discusses the other players on his teams with me at length. actually, those last few points were more pertinent to the time when he was playing a crapton of COD4, before he started L4D. i guess there's some new developments in the COD world coming up, too. hopefully some of this stuff will time right around christmas and make gift-buying a piece of cake this year.

I know we have different date formats, but I'm pretty sure 09-09-09 would be the 9th of September '09, no matter which way you look at it.
